China said on March 6 it would fight back against the US trade war and warned that Washington's tariff threats were disrupting the global economy.

Recently, in response to US President Donald Trump imposing an additional 10% tariff on Chinese goods, raising the total tariff to 20%, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian also said, "Exercising extreme pressure on China is a wrong goal and a miscalculation... If the US has other intentions and insists on a tariff war, trade war or any other war, China will fight to the end."

Calling on Washington to stop "unilateral bullying", the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman hoped "the US would return to the right track of dialogue and cooperation as soon as possible".

Observers commented that the Chinese Foreign Ministry's announcement that Beijing will "fight to the end" with the US in "a tariff war, a trade war or any other war" marked the world's second-largest economy's strongest move against US President Donald Trump since he entered the White House.

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson also shared comments about the phrase "any other war" on X.

The post was later reposted by the Chinese Embassy in the US. The embassy reiterated the message, writing clearly: "If war is what the US wants, whether it is a tariff war, a trade war or any other kind of war, we are ready to fight to the end."

When asked to clarify the meaning of the phrase "any other war", Mr. Lam Kiem said: "If the US has other intentions and insists on harming China's interests, we will fight to the end."

Beijing has strongly opposed President Trump’s efforts to link tariffs to the flow of fentanyl from China into the U.S. The fentanyl issue is an “excuse” for the White House to impose harsh trade measures on China, Lam said.

This week, China also retaliated with its own trade weapons, imposing tariffs of up to 15% on a range of US agricultural products.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman's harsh comments came as China is holding its biggest annual political event - the 14th National People's Congress.

Meanwhile, the World Trade Organization (WTO) recently announced that Beijing has submitted a request to the organization to resolve a trade dispute with the United States. This request is related to the US imposing new tariffs on Chinese goods.

The move comes as President Donald Trump's administration increases import tariffs on Chinese goods and raises concerns about a new trade war between the world's two leading economies.

Since March 4, the US has imposed an additional 10% tariff on imported goods from China, adding to the 10% tariff already imposed since February 4.

China's request is the first step in the WTO's formal dispute settlement process. If a solution is not found within 60 days, China can ask the WTO to issue a ruling.

Not only China, Canada also asked the WTO to intervene regarding the unfair tariffs of the US. The world's largest economy has imposed a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico, along with increasing tariffs on Chinese goods.

The moves could affect nearly $2.2 trillion in annual trade, with President Trump saying the three top U.S. trading partners are not doing enough to stem the flow of drugs into the United States.
