From August 4-6, the 19th Hoi An-Japan Cultural Exchange Program was held on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations (1973-2023).
The opening is the lacquer painting exhibition "Microcosm - Macrocosm - Hoi An, where I live between two universes" by Japanese artist Saeko Ando at the Japanese Cultural Exhibition House.

A series of cultural and artistic activities are taking place these days in Hoi An such as the Vietnam-Japan Art Exchange, the boat race "Hoi An, Japan and tourists" on the Hoai River, reenacting the procession of Princess Ngoc Hoa and Japanese merchant Araki Sotaro...
In particular, at the Japanese flower arrangement instruction activity with artist Endo Yuko - founder of the Ikebana school, the artist completed a work with the theme of commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.
Entertainment activities, cultural exchanges, and culinary introductions also attracted the attention of a large number of people, such as the exhibition of documentary photos about the friendly cooperative relationship between Hoi An and Japan, the exhibition of wood carvings "Old Hoi An Commercial Port" by artist Le Ngoc Thuan, Origami paper folding and Yukata costume trying, and the Vietnam-Japan culinary space with special dishes.
Mr. Nguyen Van Son, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province, emphasized that the ancient town of Hoi An is known as one of the places where the Japan-Vietnam relationship began more than 400 years ago, as demonstrated by the bustling trade at Hoi An port as well as the love affair between Princess Ngoc Hoa and merchant Araki Sotaro.
Continuing and developing that good relationship, Hoi An has continuously promoted cooperation and friendship with Japanese partners and localities in many fields.
The Hoi An-Japan Cultural Exchange Festival has been held 19 times. This year, the event is even more meaningful as it is part of a series of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (September 21, 1973 - September 21, 2023). The government and people of Hoi An city hope that through this event, Hoi An, Quang Nam and Japanese partners will enhance mutual understanding, strengthen the good friendship between the people of the two countries' localities towards a bright future. |
