National key project can turn Dong Anh into "Dubai Vietnam"

Started on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the National Exhibition Center in Dong Anh is considered a "project of the century", a new symbol of prosperity for the capital.

Once completed, this will be a meeting place for world-class events and exhibitions, helping Dong Anh create miracles like Dubai when it successfully opened the "EXPO economy".

The driving force behind Vietnam's "EXPO economy" acceleration

25 million visitors from all over the world came to Dubai (United Arab Emirates) in just 6 months (from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022) to attend up to 30,000 different events, large and small. This impressive number is enough to demonstrate the scale and influence of EXPO 2020 - the first world exhibition held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia.

To win the right to host the world's largest exhibition, Dubai has spent nearly 9 billion USD to build an exhibition center covering 438 hectares. In return, the "Middle Eastern giant" also earned billions of USD thanks to the sudden increase in passenger traffic from aviation and tourism. The economy received a strong "boost" to recover after the Covid-19 pandemic. Along with that, the value that is difficult to quantify in money is the opportunity to promote the image and brand of the country.

In addition to opportunities from events that occur every five years such as the World Exhibition, many countries have succeeded in building an “EXPO economy”, not only reaping benefits for themselves but also promoting global trade.

A typical example is the Canton Fair, held annually in Guangzhou, China. It is estimated that each year, more than 200,000 guests, representing businesses from 210 countries and regions, attend, bringing 150,000 products to promote. Behind the signed orders are millions of new jobs created and billions of dollars contributed to China's GDP.

The National Exhibition and Convention Center in Dong Anh will be in the world's top 10 in terms of scale.

According to Professor Augustine Ha Ton Vinh, who has worked in Asia-Pacific, Europe and West Africa for more than 30 years, EXPO - or exhibitions - is necessary for every economy because it is a bridge between sellers and buyers. In Vietnam, this activity is increasingly valued in many fields, but in the integration game, it still lacks the cohesive strength to be able to compete.

“We do not have exhibition centers large enough to display products at large-scale booths, and we also lack parking space and the ability to accommodate a large number of customers. In the world, the space for an event is sometimes 1 - 2 square kilometers. In addition to hardware, for EXPO centers to be effective, the most important thing is to maintain regular operations, with the presence of both sellers and buyers,” shared Prof. Ha Ton Vinh.

Prof. Ha Ton Vinh also believes that Vietnam's EXPO economy will have spectacular changes, keeping up with the world's development speed in the near future. This is thanks to the recent official groundbreaking of the National Exhibition Center in Dong Anh.

“The project is carried out by Vingroup, a leading corporation in Vietnam. I believe that they have all the necessary research and facilities. This project can bring us pride that we have entered the international arena,” said Professor Ha Ton Vinh.

The appeal of the “new wonder” in the world's Top 10

With the investor’s aspiration to create world-class projects, the National Exhibition and Fair Center is expected to be on par with world-famous projects. This national key project in the field of trade and services is expected to turn Dong Anh into “Dubai Vietnam”.

The special architecture of the National Exhibition and Fair Center recreates the image of the Golden Turtle God from the legend.

With a total construction area of up to 90 hectares, the project will be in the Top 10 largest exhibition centers in the world. Located at the gateway to the world of the whole North, with Noi Bai International Airport on one side (only 15 minutes drive away), the historical inner city on the other side (only 5 minutes away after Tu Lien Bridge is completed), the National Exhibition and Fair Center has the stature of a global trading center when possessing prime coordinates and super-connected infrastructure.

According to the general planning of Hanoi capital construction to 2030, with a vision to 2050, Dong Anh will become an urban area, a modern economic and financial center, a cultural and historical center of Hanoi. Dong Anh district, where the National Exhibition Fair Center is located, will become a center of high-tech industry, financial services, trade and international transactions north of the Red River, playing the role of a driving force for development in the north of the capital.

The National Exhibition and Convention Center, when completed, will be a driving force, helping Dong Anh soon realize its set vision. The project will be the leading destination for large-scale events of regional and world stature, initiating a vibrant EXPO economy for Hanoi, similar to the model of Dubai EXPO (UAE), Frankfurt (Germany), Fiera Milano (Italy), Las Vegas (USA) ...

In the United States, the Las Vegas Convention Center contributed nearly $2 billion to the local economy in 2019 and created about 13,000 jobs. Globally, international convention centers contribute about $325 billion a year to the world economy, according to the International Exhibitions Association (UFI). This figure includes direct revenue from exhibitions, conferences, and visitor spending on services such as hotels, restaurants, and transportation.

In the near future, Tu Lien Bridge will be started, along with the completion of Ring Road 4 and the upgraded capacity of Noi Bai Airport, making travel to the National Exhibition and Fair Center even more convenient. These necessary and sufficient conditions will help Dong Anh in particular and Hanoi in general attract millions of more tourists and international businesses and entrepreneurs each year. This will be a strong boost to stimulate economic growth for the Capital region, indirectly "pinning" Vietnam on the international trade map.
