(Dan Tri) - The road along the Tham Luong canal embankment (section through Go Vap district) which used to be shabby and sparsely populated is now like being "dressed in a floral dress", bustling with people coming and going on the occasion of Lunar New Year 2024.

In the days leading up to the Lunar New Year 2024, the road along the Tham Luong canal embankment (section through Go Vap district) which was previously dirty, smelly, and sparsely populated, has now become more vibrant with Tet flowers for sale and bustling traffic.

Dozens of stalls selling Tet flowers of all types and sizes are displayed along the street. Most of the vendors here are from the Western provinces, bringing flowers to Ho Chi Minh City to sell to earn money to go home for Tet.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan (44 years old) brought flowers from Ben Tre to Ho Chi Minh City to sell during the Lunar New Year. Mr. Tuan said that this year's flower harvest was good but the price was low, many types were priced only half of last year's.

"Here, they sell retail but the price is as cheap as wholesale. I bought two pots to put in my house to decorate for Tet to create atmosphere," said Ms. Do Thi Dung (48 years old, living in Go Vap district).

Because the flowers are imported directly from gardens in the West, the prices here are affordable. Many wholesalers in Ho Chi Minh City also come here to buy flowers to sell retail.

Ms. Dao Thi Hang (29 years old), owner of a flower shop in Phu Nhuan district, is selecting mini kumquat trees to sell. "My shop specializes in fresh flowers. Because at the end of the year, many people ask for kumquat trees for the table, so I imported this type to serve customers," Ms. Hang said.

Mr. Thang (45 years old), a seasonal worker, took a break while delivering flowers to customers. "These days, there are many customers hiring me to deliver flowers. Sometimes I have to work until 2-3am to get home. It's the end of the year, so I try to work extra to have money to spend during Tet," Mr. Thang said.

Chrysanthemum is a popular flower during Tet. Most of the flowers here are taken from Sa Dec (Dong Thap), some people even consider this place as the Sa Dec flower dealer in Ho Chi Minh City.

Besides the large Tet flower markets in the city center with large areas and convenient transportation, many people still choose to go to this flower market along the embankment to "bring spring home".

In addition to chrysanthemums, colorful bougainvillea is also considered a "specialty" at this flower market. Eye-catching pots of bougainvillea with vibrant colors cost from several hundred thousand to several million VND depending on the size and age of the plant.
