This is one of the traffic projects in the gateway area that is expected to help reduce congestion at the starting point of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway and the route to Cat Lai port.
TPO - On the morning of March 12, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and representatives of departments and branches inspected the construction project of An Phu intersection (Thu Duc City). This is one of the traffic projects in the gateway area that is expected to help reduce congestion at the starting point of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway and the route to Cat Lai port.
Reporting to the working delegation, Mr. Luong Minh Phuc - Director of the HCM City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (abbreviated as the Traffic Board, the investor) said that the total progress of the An Phu intersection project has reached 65%. Currently, the Traffic Board is focusing on speeding up the implementation of items, striving to basically complete the project by the end of December this year.
According to the Traffic Department, the current difficulty of the project is to carry out construction while ensuring traffic. Therefore, the construction unit must complete one item and restore the site to organize traffic before carrying out the next item.

In addition, the expansion of Luong Dinh Cua Street, from Mai Chi Tho to Nguyen Hoang Street (right side of the route), cannot be implemented yet because the site clearance of 22,012m2 belonging to the An Phu urban development area has not been completed. Currently (while waiting for the site), the Traffic Department is planning to organize temporary traffic in this area to exploit with other completed items of the intersection by the end of 2025.
In order to soon complete the N1.2 bridge branch in sync with the entire project, the Traffic Committee recommends that the Department of Natural Resources and Environment preside over and coordinate with the Department of Justice, Department of Construction, Department of Planning and Investment, Thu Duc City People's Committee, Thu Thiem Real Estate Joint Stock Company, to implement the contents of Official Dispatch No. 473 dated January 10, 2025 of the City People's Committee Office. At the same time, report to the City People's Committee before March 20 to serve as a basis for implementing the next work to carry out compensation and site clearance for the 22,012m2 part of the An Phu urban development area.

Regarding the investor's proposal, Chairman Nguyen Van Duoc requested the Departments, branches, sectors, and the People's Committee of Thu Duc City to quickly find solutions to complete the An Phu intersection as soon as possible, creating the best travel conditions for people.
“This is an important project, not only to build urban beauty for the East of Ho Chi Minh City but also to play a role in connecting with metro and national railway projects. Therefore, the connection preparation work must also be ready to be deployed as quickly as possible,” Mr. Duoc emphasized.
An Phu traffic intersection has a total investment of 3,408 billion VND. This project has a 3-storey design with a two-way underpass connecting Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway with Mai Chi Tho road (Thu Thiem tunnel side), extending through Mai Chi Tho - Dong Van Cong intersection. The cross-section scale of the road is 10-12 lanes, the tunnel has 4 two-way lanes, and the overpasses have 2 lanes each branch.
The project aims to enhance connectivity between the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, Mai Chi Tho Road and the city's main routes, in order to maximize the effectiveness of traffic projects in the area. At the same time, the project also solves traffic congestion at intersections, especially on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway and Mai Chi Tho Road, ensuring smooth traffic at the eastern gateway of the city and Cat Lai port area.
