A clip shared on social media, showing a sugarcane juice shop owner committing unhygienic food safety acts in the Tran Temple area (Tien Duc commune, Hung Ha district, Thai Binh province), is causing public outrage.
Mr. Bui Viet Tuan, Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Hung Ha district, Thai Binh province, said that local authorities are considering handling the act of selling unsanitary sugarcane juice by the seller at Tran temple.
The incident was filmed by locals and posted on social media, causing outrage.
Immediately after the clip appeared, the Tien Duc Commune Police and local government officials handled the situation, temporarily took the sugarcane juice cart of the seller who was reported to the commune police headquarters, and summoned the shop owner to work.
Authorities also asked this person not to sell sugarcane juice in the Tran Temple area, Mr. Tuan informed.
Captain Bui Trung Thanh, Chief of Tien Duc Commune Police, said that when working with the police, the owner of the shop did not admit to pouring the leftover sugarcane juice back to sell to customers. But the images from the clip were too clear and unacceptable.
The commune police have confiscated the selling items and permanently closed the sugarcane juice shop. "This is a lesson for other businesses. We have also reminded the shops in the Tran Temple area to strictly comply with food hygiene and safety regulations," Captain Thanh shared.
At Tran Temple there are currently more than 200 shops operating.
Previously, on February 16, a clip appeared on social media showing the owner of a sugarcane juice shop at the Tran Temple gate (Thai Binh) committing unhygienic food safety acts. The sugarcane juice shop owner was a woman wearing a light purple floral shirt and a conical hat.
The image was captured by someone standing on high ground. The vendor poured sugarcane juice from a large mug into small cups, then brought it to customers.
According to the description of the person filming the clip, the sugarcane juice the shop owner brought out for the customers to drink was actually a cup of water collected from two old sugarcane juice cups that previous customers who came to the shop drank left over.
The ice cubes from the old cups were not thrown away. The straw was dipped into a bucket of cloudy water by the owner of the shop behind the sugarcane juice cart. The girl said that the owner had previously dipped a tablecloth into the bucket of water.
