With its cultural and natural diversity, Thanh Hoa cultural tourism is an attractive “spring destination” for visitors from near and far. During the recent Lunar New Year holiday alone, the province welcomed about 675,000 visitors, mainly concentrated in cultural, historical and spiritual tourist destinations, partly demonstrating the strong attraction of this type of tourism.
Visitors to the cultural relic and scenic spot of Phu Na (Nhu Thanh) always bring good wishes for the new year.
Right from the first days of the spring of At Ty, cultural, historical and spiritual tourist destinations in the province such as: Ho Dynasty Citadel World Cultural Heritage (Vinh Loc), Lam Kinh National Special Historical Relic Site (Tho Xuan), Nua - Am Tien Temple National Historical and Cultural Relic Site (Trieu Son), Phu Na Cultural and Scenic Relic Site (Nhu Thanh), Doc Cuoc Temple National Special Relic Site (Sam Son City)... have attracted thousands of tourists every day. For many people, this is a spring pilgrimage through heritage sites, to nourish the soul and pray for good things in the new year.
At Phu Na Cultural Relic and Scenic Area, Mr. Vu Ngoc Tuyen from Hau Loc District said: “In early spring, my family and friends often go to the pagoda to pray for good health and success in work in the new year. This is also the first time I have come to Phu Na, but through the loudspeaker system introducing the relic, we have a better understanding of the destination and the Mother Goddess worship here.”
It is known that from the first day of the Lunar New Year to the 10th day of the first lunar month, about 120,000 visitors were welcomed here. To ensure good reception and service for visitors, the Relic Management Board has established 7 sub-committees to control security, order, traffic safety, and food hygiene and safety. This year, all sales points at the relic have been moved outside the main gate, and specific sales areas have been divided to create space for visitors to visit and shop when they come here. Along with that, in the temple areas and walkways, the Relic Management Board also arranged warning signs for visitors to proactively raise their vigilance and protect their personal property; arranged drinking water areas and seats to serve visitors for free...
According to information from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, since the first day of the Lunar New Year, spiritual and cultural destinations in the province have recorded an increase in the number of visitors compared to the same period last year. The reason is partly due to the long Tet holiday, combined with favorable weather. In addition, some destinations also organize many cultural exchange activities, arts, and folk games in early spring to bring visitors interesting experiences.
Director of the Center for Culture, Information, Sports and Tourism of Sam Son City Duong Duc Hung said: “From the first day of Tet until now, the number of visitors to Doc Cuoc Temple, Co Tien Temple and To Hien Thanh Temple has been very crowded. Every day, the destinations welcome and serve about 2,000 visitors to offer incense and visit the landscape. This year, at all destinations, we have arranged check-in points for visitors. Thereby, it not only contributes to bringing visitors a new perspective on spiritual and cultural tourism, but also contributes to promoting and positioning the destination brand”.
For travel businesses, the spring travel season is also the first peak travel season of the new year. According to information from the Provincial Travel Association, the number of visitors booking tours to explore cultural and spiritual destinations currently accounts for nearly 80%. Therefore, along with the destinations, all travel agencies must strive to ensure service quality. Meanwhile, along with the flow of domestic visitors, the number of visitors from other provinces to Thanh Hoa who have registered for services from now until mid-February (lunar calendar) has increased by about 10-15% compared to the same period in 2024. However, the large number of visitors concentrated at this time has posed a difficult problem for many businesses when there is a shortage of transportation services and tour guides. Therefore, visitors planning to travel in the spring need to register for services early so that travel agencies can be proactive in preparation and ensure service quality.
The festival season in Thanh Hoa is still long with many cultural, sports and tourism activities organized. Therefore, strict management is needed so that each cultural tourist destination leaves a good impression on visitors. Along with that, each local and tourist when going to the festival needs to strictly follow the rules and regulations of the destination, and behave civilly in places of worship. In particular, do not support superstitious behavior, join hands to maintain order, landscape and environment, so that the spring pilgrimage to Thanh Hoa truly brings joy to everyone.
