Man Utd's offer for midfielder Mason Mount is still far from Chelsea's requirements.
Man Utd first offered $51 million. According to ESPN on June 21, when they returned with a $64 million offer, the "Red Devils" were again rejected. Chelsea's asking price is $89 million. Negotiations between the two clubs are still ongoing.
Mount has one year left on his contract with Chelsea, but is not keen on extending it. Multiple sources have suggested that the 24-year-old midfielder is ready to leave Stamford Bridge to join their Premier League rivals.

Man Utd insiders believe $64 million is a reasonable fee. The Red Devils don't want to pay too much for a player who will be free after a year. Other interests in Mount have also waned. Liverpool have stopped adding to their midfield after buying Alexis Mac Allister. Arsenal have reached an agreement with Kai Havertz.
Man Utd also believe they can reach an agreement with Chelsea before the start of their US tour on July 20. However, they are unwilling to pay Chelsea's exact asking price. The transfer is contingent on Chelsea accepting a reduction in the asking price.
This summer, Chelsea had to restructure their squad to 40 players. Since early June, they have terminated the contracts of Tiemoue Bakayoko and N'Golo Kante, sold Mateo Kovacic to Man City for $30 million and Kai Havertz to Arsenal for $80 million. In the near future, in addition to Mount, Chelsea may sell goalkeeper Mendy, center back Koulibaly, strikers Aubameyang, Pulisic, Ziyech and Lukaku. In the opposite direction, coach Mauricio Pochettino recruited striker Nkunku from Leipzig for $66 million.
Mount came through the Chelsea academy and made his debut for the first team in the 2019-20 season, scoring 33 goals in 195 appearances. He and Chelsea won the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Man Utd manager Erik Ten Hag wants to sign Mount to strengthen his midfield. He also wants to ease the burden on Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes, two players who played 40 and 59 games last season.
Man Utd finished the 2022-23 season in fourth place in the Premier League. They qualified for the Champions League and the League Cup. Meanwhile, Chelsea finished 12th in the Premier League and did not qualify for the European Cup next season. With Chelsea's decline and the harsh intervention of new Chairman Todd Boehly, Mount and several other players wanted to leave.
