(Dan Tri) - Coach Ruben Amorim admitted that he will be fired if Man Utd cannot go further in the Europa League. However, the Portuguese strategist is determined not to change his playing style with his 3-4-3 formation.
Man Utd will face Real Sociedad in the UEFA Europa League round of 16 on March 7. The "Red Devils" must win their remaining matches to be able to lift the trophy and secure a place in next season's Champions League.
The Portuguese coach is under huge pressure after Man Utd were knocked out of the FA Cup by Fulham and are still stagnant in 14th place in the Premier League.
Speaking before the match with Real Sociedad in the Europa League round of 16, coach Amorim admitted that he would be fired immediately if he could not improve the team's performance.

"I know what I have to do to save the situation, but sometimes the results are not as expected so I have to win the remaining matches. I am really confident in my playing style even though it has not really brought the desired results but I am still confident in that.
We will beat Real Sociedad in the next match, we have to do that. They are formidable opponents but we will try at all costs because this is a match for Man Utd to improve their image in the European arena. We have not lost any match in Europe this season, hopefully we can continue like that and get a good result in the next match," coach Amorim said before the match.
Amorim has lost eight of his 16 Premier League games since taking over at Man Utd in November 2024. However, the 40-year-old has said he will not compromise on his system or style of play even if it costs him his job at Old Trafford.
"I think the system is not the problem, but the way of playing. We have a lot of problems and are trying to solve them. Each system has different characteristics. I am still very confident. I will not change my scheme," coach Amorim affirmed.

According to Spanish press, Man Utd are starting to draw up a list of candidates to replace coach Amorim. Among them, 3 notable names are former German national team head coach Joachim Low, former Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui and former Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri.
All three replacements are veteran coaches with experience in major tournaments. According to Mirror, if Man Utd sack coach Amorim, they will have to pay a total of £20 million to the 40-year-old strategist and his staff. Previously, the "Red Devils" paid £14.5 million to fire Erik Ten Hag and his coaching team.
Coach Amorim has the opportunity to keep his seat at Old Trafford in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League round of 16 between Man Utd and Real Sociedad taking place at 0:45 on March 7 at Anoeta Stadium (Spain).
