On the afternoon of April 18, Phong Hai Border Guard Station, Thua Thien-Hue Provincial Border Guard coordinated with functional forces and local people to extinguish a forest fire in Phong Hai commune, Phong Dien district.
Initial information, at around 13:00, a large fire broke out in the cajuput forest area of Hai Phu village, Phong Hai commune. Local people focused on extinguishing the fire but the dry weather and wind caused the fire to spread quickly.
Phong Hai Border Guard Station and other functional forces put out the fire and save the forest.
Upon receiving the information, Phong Hai Border Guard Station mobilized 20 officers and soldiers to coordinate with functional forces, local authorities and local people to fight the fire. They tried to put out the fire and clear a runway to contain the fire, preventing it from spreading.
After about an hour of effort, the forest fire was basically controlled and completely extinguished. Authorities are clarifying the damage caused by this 2-hectare Melaleuca forest fire.
