The UK Government has previously announced a £1 million (VND32 billion) humanitarian aid package for Vietnam to support the initial response to the storm and flood. The aid will be delivered directly to people through humanitarian partners, providing essential supplies, cash support and vital services such as health, water and sanitation. Vietnam is one of the most climate-vulnerable countries in the world. The UK is at the forefront of climate cooperation with Vietnam as a lead country in the Partnership for a Just Energy Transition. In addition to providing early support, this aid will help strengthen Vietnam's ongoing resilience to climate change. Anneliese Dodds, Minister of State for Development, UK Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, said: "The UK Government stands with the people affected by the devastating impact of Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam. “We have been working closely with the Government of Vietnam and our humanitarian partners to identify the areas where our support can have the most positive and effective impact,” said Ms. Dodds. The aid will go directly to the localities, providing essential supplies, cash and critical services such as health, water and sanitation to people in the most affected areas.

In addition, the Swiss Embassy in Vietnam said that through the Swiss Humanitarian Relief Unit, the Swiss Government will allocate 1 million Swiss francs (equivalent to 1.2 million USD) to Vietnam to help Vietnam overcome the consequences of the storm, and will send experts and resources to the center of the relief work. A team of 6 experts with experience in water and sanitation, emergency shelters and disaster risk reduction is being deployed to Vietnam to support the authorities and affected people. In addition, Switzerland will provide essential supplies, including 300 tents and a water distribution system that can serve 10,000 people. Switzerland is coordinating with ASEAN to urgently send these essential supplies to the most affected areas to provide immediate relief to those in need.
