Regarding people's concerns about motorbike identification plates, a representative of the Traffic Police Department has just said that Circular 24/2023 of the Ministry of Public Security clearly stipulates the color and series of each type of license plate issued from August 15.
In particular, the license plates issued to motorbikes and scooters will have changes compared to before. Accordingly, the license plates for motorbikes will have a white background, black letters and numbers, and the license plate series will use one of the following 20 letters: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, K, L, M, N, P, S, T, U, V, X, Y, Z combined with one of the 20 letters A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, K, L, M, N, P, S, T, U, V, X, Y, Z. This is the license plate issued to motorbikes of domestic organizations and individuals.
The new license plates issued to people's motorbikes will have 2 consecutive letters instead of 1 number combined with 1 letter as before.
"According to the transitional provisions in Article 39 of Circular 24/2023, the old 5-digit license plates issued before August 15 (a series of 1 letter and 1 number) that people still use will be identified normally by default. This means that when carrying out the withdrawal procedure according to regulations, the vehicle registration system will still reissue this license plate when the vehicle owner registers another vehicle," said a representative of the Traffic Police Department.
According to a representative of the Traffic Police Department, some localities are still issuing license plates according to the old model (a series of 1 letter and 1 number) because the remaining numbers are allocated before August 15.
The number of these license plates is not much, and after being issued to people, they will be identified normally.
After issuing all remaining old license plates, the Traffic Police will issue new two-character license plates for motorbikes to the public.
A representative of the Traffic Police Department confirmed that there is no such thing as the old 5-digit motorbike license plates that people are using will not be identified or reissued if they go through the recall procedure.
Recently, some people have encountered problems when registering for license plate revocation and issuance due to technical problems or some enforcement officers' unclear understanding.
In the coming time, the Traffic Police Department will continue to issue guidance documents to all levels so that the issuance and revocation of identification plates can be carried out quickly and conveniently.
