On the afternoon of March 12, Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen, along with leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, representatives of relevant departments and units, inspected the key traffic project of the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho underpass (District 7).

Reporting at the construction site, Mr. Luong Minh Phuc - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Works Management Board (Traffic Board) said that currently, the investor and contractors are speeding up the construction progress towards the goal of opening the HC2 tunnel branch by July 31 and opening the HC1 branch by the end of 2024, completing the entire project.

To ensure the project's progress, the construction units mobilized more than 110 commanding officers, technicians, and workers; more than 30 machines and equipment. In particular, some construction items were carried out in "three shifts" to speed up the completion progress according to the direction of the City Party Committee and People's Committee.

According to the investor, since February 7, the unit and contractor have been 'closing' the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection to synchronously construct two bridge branches, leading to frequent traffic congestion.

However, the Traffic Department has coordinated with related units such as the Department of Transport, PC08 Police Department, South Saigon Traffic Police Team, Traffic Inspectorate... to monitor, coordinate, and promptly handle arising situations, minimize congestion and speed up progress, shorten the time of occupying the intersection area.

Ho Chi Minh City Secretary requests investors and contractors to speed up progress so that the project can be completed soon.

Ho Chi Minh City Secretary Nguyen Van Nen assessed that the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho tunnel project had to be constructed while continuously organizing traffic in an area with very high density, but the coordination and support between the forces and the investor was quite close; maintaining continuous construction activities, ensuring safety.

“It can be said that this is a key traffic project of the city, which is meaningful in removing congestion at the gateway, facilitating people's travel as well as improving the quality of life, ensuring the environment when completed. Therefore, we must implement the project with a sense of urgency," Mr. Nen emphasized.

The Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City said that the most important thing now is that the city is about to enter the rainy season, and the project's construction will face many obstacles. However, he has studied the report and highly welcomes the investor and related units for coming up with a detailed and specific plan.

“I appreciate the coordination work, the units have made efforts to work in "three shifts", but need to ensure construction safety. Regarding traffic issues, the forces participating in ensuring order and safety need to try to coordinate more, do not let problems and congestion occur; need to anticipate bad situations that lead to passivity to resolve. When there is a situation that goes beyond the plan, it must be reported immediately to the investor and city leaders for timely resolution”, Secretary Nen emphasized.
