On the afternoon of January 4, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held a conference to announce the Ho Chi Minh City Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.

"Holding the Decision approving the planning of Ho Chi Minh City in my hand, I felt elated, like holding a marriage decision, because it ended a long period of dating, waiting and broken promises. A long period of asking, reminding, answering, and broken promises over and over again until I heard that the Prime Minister had signed the approval decision at the end of the year" - Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee confided.

According to the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, the decision to approve the planning is the result of a process of effort, struggle, determination, many stages, many agencies, units, consultants... participating. The planning work also has many complicated procedures, takes a lot of time, and cannot be shortened.

"We are glad that the Prime Minister and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister have chosen the right thing and have made strong decisions to handle the problem. For example, the consideration of establishing an international financial center has been long-awaited but is still being discussed at various agencies, passing the ball back and forth without being able to finish the task," said Mr. Nguyen Van Nen.

Scientific, rigorous but flexible

The Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee said that in the coming time, the locality will urgently concretize the Prime Minister's instructions related to development orientation and realize the newly approved planning.

At the same time, urgently coordinate with ministries and branches at the central level to soon complete and submit to the Prime Minister for approval the plan to implement the planning of Ho Chi Minh City, especially reviewing to ensure the consistency and connection of national planning, regional planning, urban planning and zoning plans decided and decentralized by competent authorities.

In addition, strongly promote Resolution 98/2023 assigned by the National Assembly in the spirit of the Politburo. Continue to research and issue outstanding mechanisms to attract social investment resources to increase investment efficiency, serving the goal of developing the city according to the plan.
