Saenchai defeats boxer Heyder Alcantara

On November 24, Saenchai won against Brazilian boxer Heyder Alcantara in the semi-finals of the 70kg weight class of the Thai Fight King's Cup. However, recently, the person known as the "King of Muay Thai" had to write a letter on Facebook after receiving many mixed opinions from Thai fans about the above match.

Accordingly, some fans said that the above match was no different from Saenchai playing against kindergarteners. In addition, some people said that Saenchai now only plays against weak opponents, not participating in top tournaments.

This prompted the 44-year-old boxer to speak up: “I appreciate the criticism, but I also have to compete to support my family. If you don't like it, just move on. I'm 44 years old and don't need anyone to tell me what tournament to compete in to prove my ability. Whether you think I'm good or not, that's your perspective. I don't need to prove anything anymore. My schedule for organizing Muay Thai seminars has been full for a month.”

Saenchai then explained that he was highly regarded by many foreigners, while a part of Thai fans did not recognize him: "Some people say that I only fight weak opponents like kindergarteners, anyone can do the same as me. However, there are foreigners who ask me: "How can you fight like that? I want to learn how to fight like you."

Some people say, 'No one wants to watch fights like this.' But foreigners tell me, 'I want to watch and learn from you. Can you come to my country to teach me martial arts?' "That's why I have Muay seminars in many countries. People who love Muay will love it no matter where they are. As long as they like my fighting style, that's enough!", Saenchai concluded his post.

Saenchai (born 1980) has a record of 21 titles, including 6 Lumpinee championships. In kickboxing, Saenchai has won 327 out of 378 matches. Since 2014, Saenchai has regularly competed in Thai Fight, a tournament based in Thailand.
