The capacity of DAP Vinachem Company's warehouse is 20 thousand tons of fertilizer, designed to store 1 month of production. In 2016, this warehouse had no more space, fertilizer overflowed and blocked the roads around the factory. Production was stagnant, the workers of DAP Vinachem Company had an unforgettable difficult time.
The difficulties of DAP Vinachem at that time originated from the sudden increase in imported fertilizers, with unusually deep price drops, much lower than the price of DAP and MAP fertilizers which had been stable for many years. To protect themselves from this unfair competition, domestic manufacturing enterprises joined together to submit a petition to the Department of Trade Defense - Ministry of Industry and Trade requesting the application of trade defense measures.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Trung - Deputy General Director of DAP - Vinachem Joint Stock Company said that after DAP - Vianchem sent a document requesting the Department of Trade Defense to apply trade defense measures, with the timely attention of the state management agency, the domestic fertilizer market has had timely changes, becoming healthier, fairer, the company's production situation has improved, and the consumption market has increased.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, since the beginning of integration, Vietnam has had 6 trade defense investigations, 16 anti-dumping investigations, 2 anti-tax evasion investigations, 1 anti-subsidy investigation... In total, there are 22 cases applying trade defense.
The application of trade defense measures is considered an important part of each country's international trade policy, because the purpose is to protect or support domestic production in the process of integration and liberalization.
On the part of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in 2023, the Ministry will continue to pay attention to and protect the interests of domestic manufacturing industries through investigating and applying trade defense measures on the principles of publicity, transparency, compliance with legal regulations and in accordance with Vietnam's international commitments. Specifically, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to adopt specific activities such as the Project on Building and Effectively Operating an Early Warning System on Trade Defense, Strengthening State Management on Combating Trade Defense Measures, Trade Defense and Origin Fraud; Improving Trade Defense Capacity in the context of participating in FTAs...
Mr. Chu Thang Trung - Deputy Director of the Department of Trade Defense - Ministry of Industry and Trade shared that the Ministry of Industry and Trade sees trade defense as an appropriate and legitimate legal tool to protect the interests of the manufacturing industry, helping the economy increase value in the domestic market. Therefore, this will continue to be a measure that the Ministry of Industry and Trade will promote in the coming time.
After 4 years, the self-defense measure on DAP products has expired. At this time, DAP Vinachem in particular and the domestic DAP, MAP production industry in general have enough capacity and potential to stand firm in the domestic market. Even thousands of tons of DAP, MAP fertilizers made in Vietnam have been exported to many countries around the world.
It can be affirmed that this tool is not everything but it is one of the important measures to help businesses find better tools to stand firm in the market.
