On February 3, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , a representative of Mobile World said that their technology and electronics retail chains (Dien May Xanh, Mobile World, Topzone) closed during Tet and only reopened on the 4th day of Tet (February 1).
Customers who want to shop can order online and will have their goods delivered after the re-opening. This policy has been applied by Mobile World for many years to reduce operating costs as well as optimize system operations.
Meanwhile, the CellphoneS system said it maintained business throughout Tet with more than 50% of stores mainly in provinces and cities with high shopping demand such as Nha Trang, Da Lat, Can Tho, Hai Phong...
“This year’s Tet holiday is a long one, people have bought technology products before Tet to use during their vacations, so during Tet the technology market is not really active,” Mr. Nguyen Lac Huy, representative of CellphoneS, explained.
Mr. Huy said that the best-selling “key” products during this period mainly serve home entertainment needs such as karaoke speakers, headphones, or compact, lightweight accessories for traveling during Tet such as backup batteries, chargers, cables, etc.
“Since the 4th day of Tet, sales of laptop and children's watch products have started to grow again, entering the sales season for students after Tet,” said a representative of CellphoneS.
Minh Tuan Mobile system said it will only open 5 stores in Ho Chi Minh City to serve the shopping needs of the city's residents.
However, “Purchasing power still increased by 8% compared to the same period last year. Customers are quite interested in the iPhone 16 Pro 256GB model. Other products in the iPhone 16 series are also interested during Tet thanks to good promotional prices…”, a representative of this system informed.
Meanwhile, the 24hStore system said it only opened one branch during the recent Tet holiday.
“Opening only one branch during Tet helps save operating costs, especially when Tet is a holiday and not everyone is willing to spend heavily. Reducing the number of branches helps reduce personnel costs, maintain good service quality at one location, and avoid excess staff,” Ms. Anh Hong, a representative of the system, shared with Tuoi Tre Online .
However, the system still increased revenue by 12% compared to last year's Tet. "The combination of offline and online sales has helped maintain revenue and achieved a growth rate of 12% compared to last year, promising to be an important stepping stone for the reopening of all 11 branches today," Ms. Hong informed.
Mobile World reversed the trend and won big
Unlike the strategy of many systems mentioned above, the retail system Di Dong Viet doubled the number of stores open during Tet, concentrated in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Thanks to that, revenue during Tet of Di Dong Viet had "purchasing power increased by more than 25% compared to the same week last month".
“Especially customers who came to pre-order the Samsung Galaxy S25 product, in which the Ultra line accounted for 75% of the choices.
In addition, the number of customers coming to shop directly has also increased, most of whom are customers upgrading to the iPhone 16 series and other smartphone lines that were just launched at the end of 2024," the system representative shared.
