Attending and chairing the Conference were comrades: Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Head of the Steering Committee for External Information Work; Comrade Lai Xuan Mon, Party Central Committee member, Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Comrade Le Hai Binh, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine.
Also attending were representatives of leaders of member agencies of the Steering Committee for External Information Work and leaders of a number of central press agencies.
Achieved many positive and quite comprehensive results
Summarizing the work of foreign information in the first 6 months of the year, comrade Nguyen Que Lam, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee, emphasized that in the context of new developments in the world and the region, many issues beyond forecast, increased instability, some new difficulties and challenges appeared, but with the attention and close direction of the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee, directly by the Head of the Steering Committee, the coordination and contributions of departments, ministries, branches and localities, foreign information work has achieved many positive and quite comprehensive results.
Regarding the direction and orientation of foreign information , member agencies of the Steering Committee, based on their functions and tasks, develop and issue directive and orientation documents, integrating them into the implementation of political tasks of agencies and units, ensuring unity, synchronization and harmony in the implementation of foreign information tasks across the entire force.
Comprehensive and timely information content ensures that positive information plays a leading role. The situation of the Party and the country in all fields and the international situation has been informed promptly and objectively.
The country's outstanding political and social events are coordinated and exchanged by relevant authorities, with early unified direction on content and synchronous implementation; bold information about the "picture" of Vietnam's economy with many bright colors; comprehensive and timely information on the exciting foreign affairs activities of Party and State leaders in many languages and formats.
Foreign information has fully conveyed important foreign messages, comprehensive information on relations between Vietnam and other countries, reflecting Vietnam's positive contributions to resolving international issues, responsible participation in the United Nations, multilateral international mechanisms and organizations.
The work of orienting and propagating achievements in ensuring human rights, fighting and refuting false and distorted arguments has been seriously and effectively implemented. Information and propaganda about the situation of seas, islands, territorial borders; the Party and State's policies and guidelines related to the work of protecting the sovereignty of the seas and islands of the Fatherland, helping to raise the spirit of vigilance and sense of responsibility of the people at home and overseas Vietnamese in preventing, detecting and stopping sabotage, inciting and distorting activities.
The innovation of foreign information methods has made many remarkable strides, combining and promoting the effectiveness of traditional communication with new communication, gradually researching and applying artificial intelligence; continuing to promote digital transformation in foreign information, constantly innovating the form of propaganda publications, and the way of conveying messages in a concise, vivid, and convincing manner.
Localities organize many cultural, sports, tourism, investment and trade promotion events.
Foreign information work has also shown initiative in forecasting and implementing measures to combat and refute bad, toxic and distorted information; effectively responding to emerging situations and complex and sensitive issues, ensuring ideological security, social stability, and maintaining the flow of positive information from international public opinion about Vietnam.
However, in addition to the positive results achieved, foreign information work still has some limitations that need to be quickly overcome in the coming time, such as: further improving the effectiveness of the struggle on the democracy and human rights front; coordinating information provision and determining specific foreign information methods for each different group of partners...

Continue to raise awareness of foreign information work
Concluding the conference, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Head of the Steering Committee for External Information Work Nguyen Trong Nghia highly appreciated the results achieved in external information work in the first 6 months of 2024.
Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that after 1 year of the Politburo issuing Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW "on continuing to improve the quality and effectiveness of foreign information work in the new situation", the awareness and responsibility of Party committees, Party organizations, authorities at all levels, leaders, cadres, Party members and people regarding foreign information work has been significantly improved.
The Central Steering Committee as well as the Steering Committees of provinces and cities have seriously grasped, researched, concretized, advised on the issuance of leadership and direction documents and organized the synchronous implementation of the contents of the Conclusion, especially the 5 key tasks and solutions in accordance with the motto "proactive, synchronous, timely, creative, effective".
Orienting the work for the second half of 2024, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that in the last 6 months of the year and longer term, towards the 14th National Party Congress, the Steering Committee and forces working on foreign information work continue to seriously implement the foreign policy according to the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; the Resolutions and Conclusions of the Party on continuing to improve the quality and effectiveness of foreign information work in the new situation and other important documents.
Unify and further raise awareness of the Party and State's guidelines and policies on foreign information work, considering this a very important part of the Party's ideological work and the task of the entire political system.
Along with that, continue to promote information and propaganda about policies and efforts to effectively enhance partnerships with major countries and important partners; the significance of the visit's results; and prospects for cooperation in diverse and rich forms.
He also suggested monitoring and grasping public opinion to proactively orient information and propaganda work, combating and refuting erroneous and hostile viewpoints; thereby creating social consensus and support from cadres, party members, and the masses; and seeking support from international friends.
Promote information flow and propaganda about the national value system, Vietnamese cultural value system; achievements in socio-economic development; promote information about the fields that Vietnam is focusing on.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia also proposed to enhance the quality of advisory work, direction, close and synchronous coordination between member agencies of the Steering Committee, between the Central Steering Committee and Steering Committees of provinces and cities, and with Vietnamese representative agencies and Vietnamese press agencies abroad.
Further improve the effectiveness of research, forecasting and the ability and mechanism to respond quickly to strategic changes in the international and regional environment, ensuring proactiveness and superiority on the domestic and international media front. At the same time, do well, deepen and raise the international level of the National Award for Foreign Information.
