Nearly 5 months since being admitted to the Communist Party of Vietnam, Ms. Mai's emotions and pride have not yet subsided. She is one of the oldest party members when she was admitted to the Party in the Party Cell of Residential Group 1, Ha Huy Tap Ward (Ha Tinh City).
Ms. Mai received the decision to join the Party in May 2023.
Ms. Mai confided: “Even though I joined the Party at this age, although it was late, for me it was a chance and a blessing. Becoming a Party member, I have another organization to participate in, expand my relationships and, most importantly, I feel more responsible to contribute to the development of the Party cell, the residential group in particular, and the locality in general.”
Ms. Mai is from Thanh Chuong district (Nghe An). In 1987, she got married and followed her husband to Ha Tinh to live. At that time, the economy was difficult, so she and her husband worked all the way to Quang Ngai. However, the work was not favorable, so her husband stayed to work, and Ms. Mai returned to Ha Tinh to earn a living. From raising pigs, growing vegetables, selling groceries, opening a tailor shop..., she did everything just to earn more income to support her family.
In 1997, Ms. Mai boldly opened a shoe dealership and became the first Biti's dealer in Ha Tinh.
Her husband worked far away, Mai alone had to take care of two small children and do many jobs, but she did not mind. Although it was so hard, life did not improve, while having the advantage of a house on the main street of the town (now Ha Tinh city), Mai began to think more about investing in business. Alone on a bicycle, Mai roamed around Vinh city (Nghe An) to research the market and choose investment items.
In 1997, after much discussion and calculation, Ms. Mai boldly opened a shoe store and became the first Biti's agent in Ha Tinh. Hardworking, diligent and creating prestige in the hearts of customers, her store was chosen by many people. Gradually, she expanded her product source, serving a variety of customers of all ages, and expanding the scale.
After more than 30 years of "making a living from nothing", Ms. Mai is now the owner of the Biti's chain of stores in Ha Tinh with 3 large locations in the city center with a total annual revenue of 6-7 billion VND. Her stores also create stable jobs for 6 employees.
Overcoming a long journey with difficulties and hardships to build a career, in 2017, Ms. Mai and her family moved to live in residential group 1, Ha Huy Tap ward.
From here, she has had the opportunity to participate in more union activities and make great contributions to the common work of the group and the ward. She is currently a delegate of the ward People's Council for the 2021-2026 term, a member of the Executive Committee of the ward Women's Union, and the Executive Committee of the Vinhomes inter-family group...
Ms. Mai contributed greatly in mobilizing resources to join hands in building a model residential group.
She herself has actively taken the lead in mobilizing resources, calling for more than 100 million VND in the inter-family group to contribute to building the ward's model residential group; mobilizing tens of millions of VND each year to give gifts to the disadvantaged in the ward; calling for resources to build the ward's martyrs memorial; supporting the prevention of the COVID-19 epidemic... She also actively participates in cultural and sports movements; is exemplary in raising good children.
Being a pioneer in production and business, active and responsible in social activities, in early 2022, Ms. Mai was introduced by the Women's Association of the residential group to participate in a Party awareness training class. In May 2023, Ms. Mai officially became a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Ms. Mai shared: “I want to set an example for my children and grandchildren that at this age, I still participate in Party activities and contribute to society. I hope that my children will study and always live a meaningful life.”
More specifically, although she is just a new party member, Ms. Mai has promoted and encouraged two more young members to participate in the Party awareness training class.
Party cell secretary of residential group 1 Tran Viet Thu shared: “Ms. Mai used to be an outstanding mass person, now she is an exemplary and typical party member. She is always energetic, proactive and very responsible in common work; she is the connecting thread that creates the great solidarity strength of the inter-family group with the residential group and ward. Party cell of residential group 1 has developed strongly thanks to pioneering party members like Ms. Mai”.
