On the morning of February 14 (the 5th day of Tet), locals and tourists enjoyed an impressive performance depicting King Quang Trung's 235-year-old victory at Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da at the Dong Da Mound Festival (Hanoi).
The festival commemorates the great contributions of the cloth-clothed hero Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue, along with the generals of the Tay Son army and the people who fought bravely and defeated 290,000 invading Manchu troops in the spring of the year Ky Dau 1789.
Vu Manh Linh (Central Tuong Theater) is very proud to play the role of the Vietnamese hero. To prepare for the role, he has been practicing for over a month. "Although this is not the first time I have played the role, I am still nervous and trying my best to recreate the portrait of King Quang Trung in a heroic atmosphere," Linh shared.
Backstage, Meritorious Artist Le Hai Van, dressed as the enemy general Ton Si Nghi, attracted the attention of the people. This was the 7th time he had the honor of performing with more than 100 artists at Dong Da Cultural Park during the spring festival.
With his face disguised as a Qing general, artist Le Hai Van said it only took him about 20 minutes to do the makeup himself.

Artist Le Hai Van and artist Tong Xuan Tung in the role of Qing Dynasty generals on the Dong Da hill stage on the morning of the 5th day of Tet. It is known that both artists had to practice for a whole month before Tet, even though they had performed many times and it was not a new role.
The show could not be without the important character "Princess Ngoc Han", played by actress Thanh Phuong.
Thanh Phuong said she had played the role of Princess Ngoc Han many times at the Go Dong Da stage on the 5th day of Tet. However, every time she stood on stage, she could not help but feel moved, and proud as if she were living in the spring atmosphere of the year Ky Dau 1789 with the victory of Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da.
There are more than 100 artists from the Vietnam Tuong Theater participating in this year's Dong Da Mound Festival, including many familiar faces.

Before that, the ceremony took place from 6am with many sacred rituals according to long-standing customs such as: incense offering ceremony, sacrificial ceremony of local sacrificial groups, procession of Emperor Quang Trung and Queen Le Ngoc Han; offering flowers and incense at the monument and temple of Emperor Quang Trung, performing epic poem commemorating the 235th anniversary of Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da victory.
In the dry weather, from early morning, people from many places flocked to attend the Dong Da Mound Festival.
