Memories of the past
Those were the days of May 1997, the life of a Vietnamese girl named Nguyen Hoang Yen forever changed when she followed her French adoptive parents from Ho Chi Minh City to live in the suburbs of Paris.
From that moment on, with the name Noémie Coyez, the Vietnamese girl grew up in the immense love of a kind French couple. They had three children, but unfortunately, all of them died young. That was also the reason why the couple decided to return to Vietnam to adopt a child.
"That day, at the hotel where my adoptive parents stayed, the girl at the reception desk who spoke French told them that there was a girl in a family who needed to adopt. It was me! A day later, they went to my birth mother's house in Ho Chi Minh City to find out more and take pictures, and then decided to adopt me because they felt a special connection," Noémie recounted the memories of her French adoptive parents.

The girl continued, that before coming to Vietnam, her parents planned to adopt two children, but they decided to adopt only her and no one else. Unfortunately, after decades, they could not remember the address, the name of the hotel, and the family they visited.
However, according to the remaining preserved documents, there is a lot of important information about Noémie's biological family, which could be the key to helping her find her mother.
Accordingly, the French girl's birth name is Nguyen Hoang Yen, born on December 15, 1995 at Song Be Hospital (most likely today's Binh Duong General Hospital - PV).
Hoang Yen’s biological mother is Nguyen Thi Kim Phuong, whose home address is 55C in Ho Chi Minh City, but the street is unknown. She wrote on her papers that she was a housewife. When her daughter was 2 years old, the mother gave her daughter to a French couple to adopt, with the maternal grandparents watching.

"The pictures taken by my adoptive parents, with moments between me and my mother, grandparents and family members, were important clues for me to find them. My parents told me that my biological father did not exist, and that my mother was a kind person but too shy and without much personality," Noémie said.
"Thank you for everything, Mom!"
The French girl said that in the past year, she had a period of time to ask herself many things. In particular, she planned to open a cafe in Paris, making Vietnamese coffee. From here, Noémie realized that she knew nothing about her country and her roots.
"I don't know why I feel sad about that. I decided to find my biological mother and return to my Vietnamese family," she said.
From the bottom of her heart, Noémie said that she has never been angry with her biological mother and the family who gave her up. Because of that decision, she has a new, good and happy life. The girl hopes that with the information she has, she can find her biological mother to answer all the questions about her origin and background.
"I hope you are still alive and happy. If I find you, I hope to have many beautiful memories with you and discover many more things in Vietnam. After all, I thank you for giving me life and helping me have a new life in France," the daughter said.
Currently, Noémie is the manager of a Korean restaurant in Paris and plans to open her own cafe in 2025. She also plans to return to Vietnam in the next few months to learn more about her homeland and roots.
