(NLDO) – In the health sector, pharmacy college has emerged as a bright choice, with a practical learning path and open job opportunities.
According to pharmacist Nguyen Ngoc Linh, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City International College, in recent years, the pharmaceutical industry has attracted the attention of many parents and students, becoming one of the "hot" industries in the health sector. Among them, the college system is chosen by many people.

Compared to university, choosing to study pharmacy college has many advantages, especially saving a significant amount of tuition fees. After a training period of 2.5-3 years, students can enter the labor market early, at the same time, they can continue to transfer to university, expanding their career opportunities.
"With a training program that is 70% practical, students still learn everything from basic subjects such as analytical chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical botany, pharmaceutical practice, general preparation, pharmaceutical law, etc. to specialized subjects such as medicinal materials, preparation, pharmaceutical chemistry, drug testing, pharmaceutical management..." - said Mr. Linh.
After graduation, students can work in pharmacies, consulting and selling drugs to customers, or work in hospitals and clinics, participating in the provision and management of drugs for patients. If passionate about research, students can apply to pharmaceutical companies or testing centers, which are ideal environments for career development; work in the field of drug management at state agencies; become lecturers and researchers at universities, research institutes, etc.
The starting salary for new graduates is about 7 million VND. Depending on ability, work experience, sales, etc., students can receive additional allowances, with a total salary of about 10 million VND/month.
Modern equipment will help students practice and research more effectively.
Sharing at a career counseling program, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan - human resource forecasting expert, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City Vocational Education Association, said that the view that studying pharmacy only sells medicine is very wrong. In addition to working at medical facilities, hospitals, pharmaceutical production units... pharmacists are also health consultants for the community. Pharmacists participate in disease prevention programs, advise on safe drug use, and provide health information to people.
According to Mr. Tuan, the role of pharmacists is increasingly enhanced, especially in the context of epidemics and the increase of chronic diseases. This job requires qualified, dedicated people with a passion for research and the preparation of drugs to treat difficult-to-treat diseases,...
"In addition to professional knowledge, pharmacists need soft skills such as communication, consulting, teamwork, foreign language communication skills, etc. In addition, the ability to use information technology and adapt to artificial intelligence technology is also very necessary in the modern working environment" - Mr. Tuan informed.
Mr. Tran Anh Tuan - human resource forecasting expert, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City Vocational Education Association, answers questions about some occupations for students to understand clearly.
In addition, Mr. Linh noted that students need to clearly define their college-university study path as soon as possible. "College graduates can already work. If they want to transfer to university without a practice certificate, they need to graduate from college with honors. On the contrary, if they graduate from college with a good grade or lower, they need to work at the facility for 18-24 months to get a practice certificate, then they can transfer to university," Mr. Linh added.
