ACB invests more than 70,000 billion VND in securities

Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (HoSE : ACB ) has just announced its consolidated financial report for the third quarter of 2023. Accordingly, in the quarter, the bank's net interest income reached VND 6,209 billion, a slight increase of 2.9 % over the same period last year.

Service activities brought the bank VND764 billion in net profit, down 11.9 % compared to the same period last year. Notably , ACB's foreign exchange trading profit increased dramatically by 229 % in the third quarter, reaching VND327.4 billion.

The bank's profit from trading investment securities also changed from negative VND 1.5 billion in the same period in 2022 to VND 882 billion. This is the profit earned from the value of investment securities of more than VND 70,233 billion of ACB, including VND 35,348 billion of investment securities held to maturity and VND 34,885 billion of investment securities available for sale.

ACB's securities trading activities also recorded good growth, bringing the bank 68 billion VND, while the same year last year it reported a loss of nearly 40 billion VND.

ACB's net cash flow during the period also recorded an increase from negative VND9,873 billion in 2022 to VND9,333 billion. Mainly due to the increase in operating cash flow from negative VND9,692 billion to VND13,146 billion.

At the end of the third quarter, ACB reported pre-tax profit of VND5,035 billion, up 12.5 % ​​over the same period last year. Correspondingly, after-tax profit increased by 12.6% from VND3,587 billion in the third quarter of 2022 to VND4,038 billion.

Accumulated in the first 9 months of 2023, ACB's net interest income reached nearly VND 18,670 billion, up 9.3% over the same period last year. ACB reported that pre-tax and after-tax profits both increased by about 11.3 %, reaching VND 15,024 billion and VND 12,038 billion, respectively.

As of September 30, 2023 , ACB's total assets reached nearly VND 648,510 billion, an increase of nearly 6.7% over the beginning of the year , of which customer loans increased by nearly 9 % to VND 444,641 billion.

As of this date, ACB's liabilities are VND 581,685 billion, an increase of 5.9% compared to the end of 2022. Mainly from customer deposits of VND 445,499 billion, accounting for 76.6% of liabilities.

Regarding debt quality, ACB's total bad debt at the end of September was VND5,399 billion. Of which, substandard debt (group 3 debt) increased from VND442 billion to VND1,045 billion, doubtful debt (group 4 debt) increased from VND437 billion to VND1,014 billion and debt with the possibility of losing capital (group 5) increased from VND1,165 billion to VND3,341 billion .
