(NLDO) - During the 9-day Lunar New Year holiday of At Ty 2025, police nationwide handled 55,842 cases of traffic safety violations.
On February 2, news from the Traffic Police Department (Traffic Police, Ministry of Public Security) said that during the 9-day Lunar New Year holiday of At Ty 2025 (from January 25 to 10:00 a.m. on February 2, from December 26, Giap Thin year 2024 to January 5, At Ty year 2025), there were 445 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 209 people and injuring 373 people. Compared to the 9-day Lunar New Year holiday of Giap Thin, there were 258 fewer cases, 126 fewer deaths, and 232 fewer injuries.

During the 9-day Lunar New Year holiday of At Ty 2025, local traffic police mobilized 25,556 working groups, with 32,783 patrols and inspections, 137,511 officers and soldiers organized patrols and inspections; detected and handled 55,842 cases of traffic safety violations. Of which, 2,985 cases had their driving licenses and professional certificates revoked, 7,035 driving licenses were demerited; 428 cars and 20,782 motorbikes were temporarily detained. Compared to the same period of the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024, the number of fines decreased by 40,261 cases.
Regarding handling of alcohol concentration violations, 17,149 cases were detected and handled, compared to the same period of the Lunar New Year 2024, a decrease of 20,365 cases. 13,296 cases were handled; 88 cases of drivers testing positive for drugs...
Regarding the traffic order and safety situation nationwide, it is basically guaranteed, the traffic volume increased, especially the days before and after Tet holiday, leading to congestion on some routes entering and exiting the gateways of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The Traffic Police of the units and localities proactively organized forces and vehicles to grasp the situation, arrange towing and rescue vehicles; coordinate remote traffic flow, regulate traffic according to the contents of the Department's plans, so the traffic congestion situation on the routes was resolved faster, soon bringing the traffic situation back to stability and normal.
