Gifted High School, Ho Chi Minh City National University, will pilot teaching some university credits to students from June 2024.
Accordingly, the school has implemented teaching of four basic university subjects: linear algebra, general chemistry, computer architecture and physics 1.
Depending on their abilities and conditions, students will register and study online on the school's MOOC lecture system.
According to the board of directors of the Gifted High School, the school plans to hold a number of in-person classes. These will be held at the end of the semester so that students can meet directly with teachers, present their questions, and prepare for the final exam.
The final exam will be conducted in person. If students pass the exam, they will be exempted from the above subjects if they continue studying at universities under the National University of Ho Chi Minh City.
The Gifted High School said that right after the school had an introduction session about the pilot program to teach some university credits, 600 students from grades 10 to 12 registered to study.
"The above students have studied university credits from June 2024 until now. Of course, the results will have to wait for time. Because not all students can study and study university credits well.
However, we need to acknowledge that creating conditions for high school students to study for college credits will bring many benefits to them, especially to excellent students with outstanding thinking. These students will have the conditions to access higher education early.
Through this, students will have the opportunity to complete their training program and shorten their university study time later," said a member of the board of directors of the Gifted High School.
