This event is not only medical, but also a symbol of life and compassion, when light is given from the deceased to those in need of visual revival.
On October 11, the Eye Center - Hue Central Hospital held a discharge ceremony for 4 patients who had just successfully received corneal transplants from brain-dead donors.
The leader of the Eye Center - Hue Central Hospital said that on September 27, when receiving information about the cornea donation wish of a 41-year-old male patient, brain dead at Binh Dinh General Hospital from the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center, the doctors of the unit quickly collected corneas and performed transplants for 2 patients: a 40-year-old female patient from Gia Lai and a 50-year-old male patient from Thua Thien Hue.
On September 30, the Eye Center - Hue Central Hospital received corneas from another brain-dead donor, 36 years old, at Nghe An General Hospital.
After careful screening, corneas were successfully transplanted into two patients: a 30-year-old male patient from Gia Lai and a 65-year-old male patient from Thua Thien Hue.
Previously, all four patients had spent long years living blind, unable to see light and life around them.
At the discharge ceremony, four corneal transplant patients voluntarily registered to donate their organs after death.
This is the way all 4 patients chose to thank the families of the 2 cornea donors and the doctors who helped them see a beautiful life again.
