According to AppleInsider , Apple just released iOS 17.4 on March 6, bringing users many new features such as the ability to download apps from third-party stores instead of the App Store in Europe. However, there is a more important reason for iPhone users to update to the new version: the security patches provided in iOS 17.4, as well as iPadOS 17.4 available for compatible iPads.

There are many reasons why users often delay updating to the new iOS, the most common of which are iPhone freezing or increased battery consumption. However, modern iOS updates have increasingly improved these shortcomings, making the update often go more smoothly. Most importantly, iOS 17.4 helps fix 4 serious security vulnerabilities in previous iOS versions, which will be very important to ensure user safety.
Explaining on its security website, Apple said iOS 17.4 will help fix up to four important security vulnerabilities discovered in iOS 17.3.1 (similar to iPadOS 17.4), including apps being able to read sensitive information about a user's location; attackers being able to read and write to the system's kernel, completely bypassing the system's built-in protections; read and write capabilities being granted to the RTKit core by bypassing access protection to it; Safari tabs opened in private browsing can be viewed for a short time.
While Apple doesn't know if cybercriminals can exploit these vulnerabilities, they are certainly at risk of being exploited.
If you haven't updated to iOS 17.4 yet and feel it's necessary to update for security reasons, iPhone users can go to the Settings app > General > Software Update . The same can be done on iPad.
