Accordingly, Google has just discovered a serious vulnerability on the Exynos chip line - named CVE-2024-44068.
It is known that this security hole can affect many devices such as: Galaxy S10, Note 10 series equipped with Exynos 9820, 9825, 980, 850 and W920 chips.
The vulnerability allows hackers to gain access to a device and install malicious code without the owner's permission. Google security researchers say the vulnerability is being actively exploited in the wild.
Samsung has acknowledged the issue and released a patch as part of its October security update. However, older devices may not be protected if they are no longer supported for software updates.
This makes old Samsung users worried, which shows the importance of regular software updates.
This isn't the only security issue Samsung has addressed recently. The company's October security patch also fixes five critical vulnerabilities in Galaxy-specific software that affect media processing.
Samsung also revealed that it will start rolling out patches through monthly security updates. The company is also committed to providing the highest level of security to users.
To protect personal data security, users are recommended to update to the latest version.
Users can go to Settings - Software Update - Download and Install. If an update is available, users just need to download it and follow the instructions.
Note, the phone needs to have enough battery and be connected to Wifi before updating to avoid data loss.
