This area, along with several other areas/states in Myanmar, including Kayin State, is experiencing fighting, making it difficult to access and protect citizens.
In recent days, implementing the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, relevant units of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have met with the Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar, Vietnamese representative agencies in China as well as domestic authorities on the issue of protecting Vietnamese citizens in this region. The Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar is continuing to closely coordinate with local and domestic authorities, and Vietnamese representative agencies in China to prepare citizen protection plans, speed up investigation and verification, complete procedures to support and bring citizens back to the country as soon as possible; at the same time, request the Myanmar side to have a plan to ensure security, safety and living conditions for citizens.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Vietnamese citizens: If not absolutely necessary, do not go to or avoid going to Shan State and Kayin State, Myanmar; if you are in Shan State and Kayin State, you need to quickly have a proactive plan to safely evacuate people and property to a third country or to Vietnam; regularly monitor information from local authorities, warnings from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Consular Department or Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar) to respond promptly.
