Vietnam's petroleum exports to increase by 13.2% in 2023

According to preliminary statistics from the General Department of Customs, Vietnam's petroleum exports in December 2023 increased by 9.3% in volume and 7.4% in value compared to the previous month, reaching 286,797 tons, worth 242.6 million USD. In 2023, petroleum exports reached 2,377,887 tons, worth 2.02 billion USD, up 13.2% in volume and down 1.1% in value.

Cambodia remains Vietnam's largest petroleum export market, in 2023, reaching 517,220 tons, worth 438.06 million USD, down 18.8% in volume and 33% in value over the same period last year, accounting for more than 21% of total volume and total export turnover.

In 2023, petroleum exports will reach 2,377,887 tons, worth 2.02 billion USD.

In December 2023, Vietnam exported 42,852 tons to the market, worth 34.6 million USD, down 12.5% ​​in volume and 15.6% in value, down 27 USD/ton compared to the previous month.

Ranked second is the Korean market, accounting for 9-10% of the total volume and total turnover, reaching 220,775 tons, turnover of 208.9 million USD, up 69.2% in volume and 50.9% in value; in December 2023 alone, it reached 21,748 tons, worth 21.2 million USD.

Next is the Singapore market, accounting for 13.5% of total volume and 9.9% of total turnover, reaching 322,018 tons, turnover of 202.18 million USD, up 80.3% in volume and 67.4% in value; December 2023 alone reached 67,952 tons, worth 47.1 million USD.

Petroleum exports to the Chinese market account for more than 7-8% of the total volume and turnover, reaching 184,646 tons, with turnover reaching 178.2 million USD, up 41.5% in volume and 19.8% in value in 2023; in December 2023 alone, exports decreased by 33.5% in volume and 37.1% in value.

Next are the markets of Laos, Malaysia and Thailand, which only account for a small export proportion of less than 3% of total volume and total turnover.

In 2023, Vietnam's squid and octopus exports will reach 660 million USD

According to VASEP, in 2023, Vietnam's squid and octopus exports will reach 660 million USD, down 13% compared to 2022. Although not yet out of negative growth, squid and octopus exports recorded a smaller decrease than other key seafood products.

South Korea is still the largest export market for Vietnamese squid and octopus products.

In the product structure, squid accounts for 55.4% with a turnover of 365 million USD (down 14% compared to last year), the remaining octopus with 295 million USD (down 12%).

South Korea remains Vietnam's largest export market for squid and octopus products, accounting for 37%. Total export turnover of this item to South Korea in 2023 reached 247 million USD, down 8% compared to the previous year.

According to VASEP, squid and octopus exports to this market from August 2023 to the end of the year recorded positive growth or only a slight decrease.

Japan is the second largest export market for squid and octopus from Vietnam, accounting for 23% with a turnover of 152 million USD, down 11% compared to the previous year. Vietnam's squid and octopus exports to this market tend to decrease sharply in the last months of 2023.

Vietnam's squid and octopus export turnover to China & Hong Kong (China) in 2023 reached 77 million USD, down 6% compared to 2022.

The US is still the largest consumer market for Vietnamese tuna.

Statistics from the General Department of Customs show that tuna exports in December reached 73 million USD, up 7% over the same period in 2022.

The US is still the largest consumer market for Vietnamese tuna.

Accordingly, Vietnamese tuna exports to many markets such as the EU, Russia, Chile or the Philippines,... increased positively compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, exports to the US, Canada and Japan decreased, but the decrease was not significant.

By the end of 2023, tuna exports brought in nearly 850 million USD, down 17% compared to last year. The US is the largest customer of Vietnamese tuna, with export turnover reaching 326 million USD, down 33%.

In contrast to the US, in 2023, exports to the EU market increased by 6% compared to 2022. Notably, Italy is a bright spot in Vietnam's tuna export picture, achieving a sudden growth rate of 361% compared to 2022.

Exports to the Israeli market also increased by 37%, reaching more than 50 million USD in 2023; the Russian market reached nearly 29 million USD, up 18% over the previous year.

In 2023, Vietnam will earn 1.8 billion USD from exporting pangasius fish

According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), pangasius export turnover in December reached more than 158 million USD, up 5% over the same period in 2022. In 2023, our country earned 1.8 billion USD from pangasius, down 25%.

Regarding export markets, in 2023, China and Hong Kong (China) continued to be the largest importers of pangasius from Vietnam. In 2023, pangasius exports to this market reached nearly 573 million USD, down 20% compared to the same period in 2022. This market increased imports of pangasius products from September 2023 and continuously recorded positive growth in the following 2 months.

Also in December, pangasius exports to the US recorded positive growth of 21% for the first time after 11 consecutive months of decline. Export turnover to the US in the last month of 2023 reached nearly 20 million USD, down 15% compared to the previous month.

In 2023, Vietnam exported 89,383 tons of cinnamon.

According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA), in 2023, Vietnam exported 89,383 tons of cinnamon, with a total export turnover of 260.9 million USD, up 14.6% in volume but down 10.7% in value compared to 2022.

The average export price of cinnamon in 2023 reached 2,918 USD/ton, down 22.1% compared to last year. India is the main export market of Vietnamese cinnamon, accounting for 42.6%, reaching 38,038 tons, up 14.0% compared to the previous year.

Next are the US markets accounting for 11.4% reaching 10,163 tons, up 7.0%; Bangladesh accounting for 6.2% reaching 5,564 tons, up 32.1%...

The leading cinnamon exporting enterprises in VPSA include: Prosi Thang Long reached 13,839 tons, accounting for 15.5%, down 8.4%; Senspices Vietnam reached 5,131 tons, accounting for 5.7%. up 39.0%; Son Ha spices reached 4,677 tons, accounting for 5.2%, down 0.7%; Olam Vietnam reached 3,445 tons, accounting for 3.9%, down 27.1% and Tuan Minh reached 3,115 tons, accounting for 3.5%, down 0.1%.
