Through on-site inspection of the Ho Chi Minh road section of our province, the inspection team discovered the damage to the positive slope retaining wall at Km1448+715 of the Ho Chi Minh road, through Dak Kroong commune (Dak Glei district) with a very high risk of causing unsafe construction and traffic safety. Accordingly, the positive slope retaining wall section from Km1448+715 to Km1448+733 (left of the route) was displaced in 2 positions falling onto the road by about 20 cm and 40 cm compared to the original position. On top of the retaining wall is a high slope with a very large volume of soil with a high risk of landslides. The structural protection system of this positive slope has been seriously damaged. Many cracks and landslides with a very large volume of soil with a length of tens of meters have displaced the concrete blocks. The iron-bracing concrete system has been displaced by rocks and soil, at risk of landslides at any time.
According to Kon Tum Road Construction and Management Joint Stock Company (the unit assigned to manage, repair and maintain), in 2003, Ho Chi Minh road was completed and put into use. At the positive slope position from Km1448+715 to Km1448+733, the height of the slope from Km1448+715 to Km1448+733 is hundreds of meters above the road surface with a huge amount of soil and rock. Although the slope cladding was constructed in steps to ensure safety against landslides, after many years of use, the above location has begun to seriously deteriorate. In addition, recent heavy rains have caused landslides on the top of the slope and then pushed down to the foot of the cladding, causing more serious damage to this safety system.
Faced with the above situation, the management unit has placed warning signs of dangerous landslides at both ends of the above location and has increased monitoring of damage developments to propose necessary measures to ensure construction safety and traffic safety.
