On August 15, Tu Mo Rong District People's Court opened a public trial of the criminal case against defendant A Nguyet, born in 2000, residing in Dak Kinh 1 village, Ngok Lay commune, Tu Mo Rong district, for the crime of "Theft of property".

According to the indictment, at around 7:00 p.m. on April 12, 2023, A Nguyet went to the house of A Khanh (born October 29, 2012, residing in Long Hy village, Mang Ri commune, Tu Mo Rong district) and asked A Khanh if he knew where Ngoc Linh ginseng was for the purpose of stealing property to sell for personal use. After that, A Nguyet and A Khanh went to the Ngoc Linh ginseng garden of Mr. A Doc's family in Long Hy village, Mang Ri commune. Here, the two subjects uprooted a total of 8 Ngoc Linh ginseng roots (A Nguyet uprooted 5 Ngoc Linh ginseng roots, A Khanh uprooted 3 Ngoc Linh ginseng roots).
After stealing the ginseng, A Nguyet drove a motorbike carrying A Khanh back to Mang Ri commune and to the mobile phone store of Mr. Tran Thanh Long in Dak Don village, Mang Ri commune, Tu Mo Rong district to exchange the ginseng for a phone and money to use.

On April 13, 2023, Mr. A Doc discovered that Ngoc Linh ginseng was missing and learned that A Nguyet and A Khanh had stolen his ginseng, so he asked A Nguyet and A Khanh to return it. At that time, A Nguyet and A Khanh brought 2 phones to Tran Thanh Long's phone store to exchange for 8 Ngoc Linh ginseng roots that had been stolen earlier, and the remaining 1,200,000 VND had been spent.
In this case, A Khanh committed the act of theft together with A Nguyet. However, according to Article 12 of the Penal Code, A Khanh is not old enough to bear criminal responsibility and therefore will not be prosecuted.
At the trial, defendant A Nguyet confessed to all of her crimes. The jury sentenced defendant A Nguyet to 15 months in prison for the crime of “Theft of property” as prescribed in Clause 1, Article 173 of the Penal Code.
