Ms. Nguyen Ly Ngoc Thu, Director of Thi Nghe Orphanage Support Center for Disabled Children, said that the Center is a public service unit under the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City, established under Decision No. 6752/QD-UB-NCVX dated September 16, 1995 of the City People's Committee on the merger of two units: the Kindergarten 6 and the Rehabilitation Center for Paralyzed Children.
The center is responsible for receiving, managing, educating and nurturing orphans and children in especially difficult circumstances from birth to 15 years old in the city, organizing cultural and vocational training so that the children can develop well physically and mentally and be eligible to reintegrate into society.
Children at Thi Nghe Orphanage for Disabled Children live in a cool space.
In recent times, with the investment and attention of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City and the wholehearted support of domestic and foreign organizations and individuals, Thi Nghe Orphanage for Disabled Children has upgraded its facilities and landscape to be more spacious and clean.
Although the center is located in an area with high traffic density (Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City), the space and atmosphere of the center is quite quiet and cool, surrounded by lots of trees.
In addition to being responsible for managing and caring for 320 children, most of whom are disabled and have underlying medical conditions, the center also provides specialized education and therapy for 73 disabled children in the community.
The center's campus is always covered with trees.
It is known that the care and nurturing work faces many difficulties due to the large workload and the care and nurturing of disabled children is also more difficult. To overcome the difficulties and challenges, the center has developed and issued a plan to implement the annual targets and tasks assigned by the City Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.
The Center's Board of Directors deploys and assigns departments, faculties, zones, stations, and facilities to implement. Thereby, specialized departments have specific solutions every quarter and year suitable to the specific situation of each department, faculty, zone, etc. to carry out assigned targets and tasks.
Regularly check and encourage officers and employees to unite and strive to complete their tasks. The result has ensured that 100% of children are received, managed and cared for by the Center in accordance with procedures and regulations. Children are classified based on disability, age, gender and cognitive ability to be arranged and assigned to appropriate departments.
In addition, the center organizes monitoring and initial health check-ups to promptly detect and treat diseases for children. All children at the center have health insurance, and medical examination and treatment are always guaranteed.
The facilities of Thi Nghe Orphanage for Disabled Children have been upgraded to be spacious and clean.
Ms. Thu added that the center has created a “miniature park” on campus for children to play, entertain, and exercise. At the same time, it contributes to creating a green, beautiful, and airy environment.
At the same time, every year the center will also organize for children to visit Long Hai beach, Vung Tau, Phan Thiet, Suoi Tien tourist area, Gigamal entertainment area, etc. Coordinate with units to organize outdoor activities, visit the Zoo, watch movies. Help children improve their communication skills, confidence, have the opportunity to interact with the surrounding environment, encourage their spirit and integrate well with the community.
On June 28, the center also coordinated with the City Youth Social Work Center to organize outdoor activities for children combined with the activity "Exchanging trash for trees".
“This activity is meaningful in educating and raising awareness of environmental protection for children; classifying waste and keeping the environment green, clean and beautiful. Moreover, through this activity, it contributes to improving the effectiveness of care, nurturing, treatment, rehabilitation, etc. for children,” Ms. Thu added.
Thi Nghe Orphanage for Disabled Children is a common home for disadvantaged children.
According to the Director of the Thi Nghe Orphanage Support Center, in the coming time, the center will continue to promote its achievements, complete assigned targets and tasks, and build a healthy and friendly cultural environment. Always put your heart first, strictly follow the regulations and professional ethics of officials and employees. Absolutely avoid negative and substandard behaviors with children.
