Secretary of Dan Phuong District Party Committee Tran Duc Hai said that Dan Phuong is an ancient land, the confluence of three rivers: Hong, Day, Nhue. This is where O Dien ancient citadel was chosen as the capital of Van Xuan State during the reign of Hau Ly Nam De. This is also a land of culture, rich in historical and cultural traditions associated with many unique folk cultural forms such as Cheo Tau singing, Ca Tru, and kite flying, contributing to enriching the culture of Thang Long - Hanoi.

In particular, Dan Phuong is home to a diverse system of historical and cultural relics, including 1 special national relic Dai Phung communal house, 37 relics ranked at the national level, and 50 relics ranked at the city level. Some relics with typical historical and cultural values are associated with the Ly Bi uprising and O Dien ancient citadel (6th century) such as the Van Hien temple relic cluster, Van Xuan communal house, Hai Giac pagoda (now in Ha Mo commune)...

According to Dr. Nguyen Van Son, Chairman of the Hanoi Historical Association, through the seminars, it has been determined that the O Dien Citadel Area is the political and military center of the Van Xuan State. Currently, on this land there are still important historical relics related to the O Dien Citadel such as Chinh Khi Temple, Ham Rong Temple, Hai Giac Pagoda, and Van Hien Temple. Therefore, this seminar aims to continue research and supplement to create a scientific basis for the orientation of long-term conservation planning of the O Dien Citadel and the O Dien cultural area.

Exploiting cultural values for economic development

At the workshop, some experts emphasized the issues that need to be further studied, preserved, restored and promoted the value of the heritage site, linked to tourism and service development in Ha Mo, Dan Phuong district and the entire relic area on both banks of the Red River, linked with the Thang Long - Hanoi area. At the same time, some presentations also mentioned what needs to be done in the future to have feasible projects to restore the ancient Nhue River, and build the To Hien Thanh Cultural and Historical Park.

In particular, preserving the cultural and historical heritage space of Van Xuan State and the formation of the ancient capital of O Dien in the form of an open park with a model of community living together.

Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Van Bai, Vice Chairman of the National Cultural Heritage Council, shared that with the new awareness, cultural resources are not outside the economy. In this area, if there is a project to organize and practice well in association with tourism development, the Van Hien Temple Festival (Ha Mo Commune, Dan Phuong District) will promote and create resources for the economic development of Dan Phuong District, which can make a practical contribution to the goal of realizing the aspiration of turning Hanoi into a creative capital.

Speaking at the workshop, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong highly appreciated the dedication and responsibility of the units that made efforts to organize the scientific workshop to provide arguments and affirm the determination of Hanoi City in concretizing the planning and orientation approved by the Government in Dan Phuong district and neighboring districts.

With tasks under the district's authority, it is necessary to do them immediately, including promptly concretizing, updating, and supplementing the workshop's results, especially the O Dien Citadel area in the process of building the district's development plan.
