Building a mechanism to promote logistics development to serve agricultural production and business

Logistics services for agricultural production and business have not developed synchronously, and are not closely linked with raw material areas and between raw material areas and agricultural product processing and consumption.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has just requested the People's Committees of provinces and cities to assess the current situation, potential and solutions to attract businesses to invest in the logistics sector serving agricultural production and business.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in the past 5 years, Vietnam's logistics industry has developed rapidly with an average growth rate of 14-16% per year.

Service quality and logistics infrastructure are improved, the number of logistics enterprises is growing rapidly. In the agricultural sector, logistics plays an increasingly important role in increasing the added value and quality of agricultural products.

However, logistics services for agricultural production and business have not developed synchronously, and are not closely linked with raw material areas and between raw material areas and processing and consumption of agricultural products.

In particular, logistics providers in the agricultural sector are still small, loosely linked and unevenly distributed by region and in each field; at the same time, they are facing many difficulties and obstacles.

In order to have a basis for developing mechanisms, policies and programs to promote the development of logistics services serving agricultural production and business, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has assigned the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agricultural and Rural Development to preside over the research task of "Assessing the current situation, potential and identifying solutions to attract enterprises to invest in the logistics sector serving agricultural production and business" with the aim of assessing the current situation and potential, opportunities for providing logistics services serving agricultural production and business; thereby proposing solutions to attract logistics enterprises serving agricultural production and business in order to increase the added value and competitiveness of agricultural products, contributing to promoting sustainable, effective and multi-value integrated agricultural development.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development requests relevant ministries, agencies, People's Committees, Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development of provinces and centrally-run cities, industry associations and enterprises to fully report and summarize the above research results for reference in building mechanisms and policies and promoting attracting businesses to invest in the logistics sector serving agricultural production and business.
