According to The Paper , in anti-corruption cases in China, cases of corrupt officials keeping mistresses are not rare, but cases of having children out of wedlock are not common.
To nurture these children who dare not openly acknowledge them, corrupt officials have accelerated the pace of "plundering". Ironically, some corrupt officials only realize at the last minute that they have been "taken for granted" by their lovers.

On May 12, 2015, Mr. Tran Trong Hoai, member of the Party Executive Committee of the Department of Land and Resources and Director of the Department of Surveying, Mapping and Geographic Information of the Zhuang Autonomous Region (Guangxi Province, China), was sentenced to 13 years and 6 months in prison for accepting bribes.
Having a child out of wedlock with his lover was the turning point that led to Tran's degeneration, said the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI).
According to the investigation report, Tran Trong Hoai got married in September 1980 and had a daughter in 1982. However, due to the concept of male superiority, Tran and the elders in the family believed that not having a son meant not having children.
In 2002, Tran Trong Hoai secretly had an affair with Wei Hong, a young woman working in Nanning province. Wei later became pregnant and gave birth to a son.
To cover the living expenses for Wei and her mother, Tran Trong Hoai took advantage of his position for personal gain. Regardless of the different forums, seminars or any commercial events, he happily accepted to attend with the purpose of receiving "red envelopes" as compensation.
After being appointed as the director in 2009, Tran Trong Hoai tried even harder, taking advantage of every opportunity to earn money, then bought a house and a car so that Wei Hong and her mother could have better conditions.
According to statistics, corrupt official Tran provided Wei Hong with a total of 1.58 million yuan (about 5.2 billion VND) to buy a house, decorate the house, buy a car and various living expenses.
Tran Trong Hoai is not the only case of "suffering from heartache" because of having a child with his lover. Khuong Minh, former Secretary of Lat Thuy (Nanjing), also fell into the abyss of corruption because of having to raise an illegitimate child.
In early 2005, Jiang Ming met a young girl named Xiao Fei at a party. Some time later, Xiao gave birth to Jiang's daughter.
However, Khuong Minh was married and in order to avoid suspicion, he still paid his salary regularly to his wife every month. This also put Khuong under economic pressure because he had to support Tieu Phi and her children and the "fastest" way was to take advantage of his position for personal gain.
These officials make a lot of money to “raise children,” but ironically, some of the children they raise are not even their own.

Zhang Haiqin, former Mayor of Zhoukou City and Director of the Water Resources Department of Henan Province, accepted bribes of more than 7 million yuan (about 23.3 billion VND) to support 3 mistresses and 3 "sons". In November 2008, he was sentenced to life in prison.
Ironically, while taking her first lover, Uong Tieu Lan, and her child on a trip, the child was seriously injured and lost blood while playing.
During a blood test at the hospital, it was found that Truong Khai Tham's blood type was B, his lover, Uong, had blood type O, but the child had blood type A. Too surprised, Truong did a paternity test and was shocked when the child was actually not his.
Truong Khai Tham has two other children with a pair of sisters. However, in the end, he could not confirm whether those two children were his or not.
