Vietnam Airlines was honored to win the "Sustainable Development Idea" award at the Human Act Prize 2024, with the project "Contributing leaves to patch the forest - For a green and sustainable Vietnam".
Deputy General Director To Ngoc Giang representing Vietnam Airlines received the award at the event.
The Human Act Prize is an annual award organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper to honor individuals and organizations that have made positive contributions to society through prestigious community initiatives and projects that bring timely, long-term and sustainable results.
With the theme "Community Creation", Human Act Prize 2024 aims to promote the spread and connection in community activities, not only honoring outstanding initiatives but also encouraging the replication of effective models.
At the same time, the theme emphasizes the role of cooperation between large businesses, organizations, and small volunteer groups in creating positive and sustainable changes.

Surpassing many nominations, Vietnam Airlines won the "Sustainable Development Idea" award with the project "Contributing leaves to mend forests - For a green and sustainable Vietnam".
This is a project closely coordinated between three units: Vietnam Airlines, MoMo and PanNature. In 2023, Vietnam Airlines was awarded the Human Act Prize in the category of Sustainable Project with Golden Lotus Connecting Love.
In 2024, the project "Contribute leaves to mend forests - For a green and sustainable Vietnam" takes advantage of Vietnam Airlines' existing customer base, MoMo's optimal financial and technological platform and PanNature's experience in implementing forest conservation and restoration projects.
Vietnam Airlines and MoMo will jointly donate 5,000 VND in revenue, equivalent to 1 "leaf" - from each Vietnam Airlines ticket purchase transaction worth over 2 million VND, to contribute to the project to implement the forest restoration program in 2024.
The project "For a green and sustainable Vietnam" aims to restore forests in the connecting corridor between Hoa Binh and Son La - an area severely degraded by human impact.
Officially launched on World Environment Day, June 5, 2024, after more than 6 months of implementation, the project has planted more than 60,000 trees of 18 native species, restoring more than 80 hectares of forest.
The project also brought great benefits to the local community. More than 600 people directly participated in the afforestation work.

The project "For a green and sustainable Vietnam" also aims to restore 500 hectares of forest in Hoa Binh and Son La before 2032.
In which, businesses and customers will be the financial contributors, PanNature will be the unit in charge of technology, implementation and supervision; local authorities and communities will be the units planting, caring for and protecting the forest.

This initiative has also been included in the event library of the SkyTeam global airline alliance, thereby affirming Vietnam Airlines' pioneering position not only in leading national-scale initiatives, but also in having the ability to have a strong impact on the international scale.
Airlines increase community-oriented activities
For many years, Vietnam Airlines has joined hands with the community to participate in programs to protect the environment. Previously, in 2022, Vietnam Airlines signed a commitment agreement with the Youth Union of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to jointly implement the project "Planting special-use forests to protect the ecological environment at Bach Ma National Park, Thua Thien Hue Province".
In 2023, Vietnam Airlines coordinated to organize the launching ceremony of the "For a Green Vietnam" forest planting campaign in Hoa Binh province.
Vietnam Airlines and partners are testing the use of sustainable fuel SAF on a number of flights, joining hands to reduce net emissions to "0" by 2050.
