On the afternoon of January 19, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received a delegation of 100 outstanding overseas Vietnamese attending the "Spring Homeland 2025" program organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Earlier in the morning, President Luong Cuong and his wife, along with the overseas Vietnamese delegation, performed the traditional ritual of releasing carp to see off the Kitchen Gods at Uncle Ho's Fish Pond in the Presidential Palace Relic Site; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with representatives of the overseas Vietnamese community attending the "Spring Homeland 2025" program. On the same day, Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien attended a meeting to honor outstanding overseas Vietnamese groups and individuals, on the occasion of overseas Vietnamese returning to the country to attend the "Spring Homeland 2025" program.
On January 19, at Uncle Ho's Fish Pond in the Presidential Palace Relic Site, President Luong Cuong and his wife, along with a delegation of overseas Vietnamese, returned to celebrate the Spring of the Homeland and performed the ritual of releasing carp to send off the Kitchen Gods on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025. On the same evening, President Luong Cuong wished overseas Vietnamese a Happy New Year and beat the drum to open the Spring in the Spring of the Homeland Art Exchange Program 2025. Returning to the country to attend the Spring of the Homeland 2025 - many overseas Vietnamese believe and expect the country to enter a new era, an era of national growth thanks to Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation.
Together towards the community
Early in the morning, the overseas Vietnamese delegation visited President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and offered incense to commemorate and pay tribute to the heroic martyrs at the Heroic Martyrs Monument on Bac Son Street.
After that, President Luong Cuong and his wife, along with representatives of the central ministries, departments, and agencies, Hanoi City, and nearly 100 overseas Vietnamese delegates, performed an incense offering ceremony at Kinh Thien Palace in Thang Long Imperial Citadel to respectfully commemorate the generations of ancestors who fought and sacrificed to preserve and protect the country of Vietnam. Thereby, continuing to clearly demonstrate the sentiments and responsibilities of the Party and State in caring for the overseas Vietnamese community, promoting patriotism, turning to the roots, and encouraging overseas Vietnamese to preserve the cultural identity, traditions, and language of the nation.
The President and his wife, along with guests and overseas Vietnamese, expressed their sincere prayers for national peace and prosperity, and for the country to enter the new year with more breakthrough successes on the path of development, as well as report to the predecessors of overseas Vietnamese returning to their homelands from all over the world.
Next, the President and his wife, along with overseas Vietnamese delegates, participated in the carp release activity at Uncle Ho's Fish Pond in the Presidential Palace Relic Site. In a friendly and open atmosphere, President Luong Cuong and his wife shared with overseas Vietnamese about their work and life situation; thanked the Vietnamese community around the world for always turning their hearts towards their homeland and country; and wished all of them a new year of peace, prosperity and success.
On the same day, within the framework of the Homeland Spring Program 2025, the overseas Vietnamese delegation offered incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh at House 67 in the Presidential Palace Relics. At the same time, they attended the ceremony to announce the Prime Minister's Decision to recognize as National Treasures 3 cars used to serve President Ho Chi Minh from 1954 to 1969. The decision to recognize as National Treasures for 3 cars is both a tribute to the heritage value and a strong affirmation of the everlasting vitality of the spirit of national solidarity and international friendship that Uncle Ho laid a solid foundation for. For the first time after 55 years of preserving and promoting the heritage value left by President Ho Chi Minh, the President Ho Chi Minh Relics Site at the Presidential Palace is honored to have artifacts recognized as National Treasures. This is an honor and pride, and at the same time affirms the noble value of the journey of more than half a century, generations of officials and workers of the Relic Site have silently preserved and promoted the heritage left by Uncle Ho.
Wishing overseas Vietnamese a Happy New Year on the evening of January 19 (December 20, the year of the Dragon), President Luong Cuong emphasized: In the great achievements of our nation, there is always the important cooperation and contribution of our compatriots abroad, the strength of great national unity is the premise, the source of strength, bringing all the great and glorious victories of our nation; Vietnamese people, whether at home or abroad, are all "children of Lac and grandchildren of Hong", President Ho Chi Minh taught: "Five fingers, some are short and some are long. But short and long, all come together in the hand. Among millions of people, there are people like this and like that, but like this or like that, they are all descendants of our ancestors".
The President affirmed that we remember yesterday to cherish today, nurture aspirations for tomorrow, close the past, together preserve and cultivate the great national unity bloc, looking towards the bright future of the nation.
Hope to be "ordered" in scientific development and innovation
Returning home to attend Homeland Spring 2025, many overseas Vietnamese believe and expect the country to enter a new era, an era of national growth thanks to Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation.
Many outstanding overseas Vietnamese highly appreciated the country's position and achievements in the past time and in 2024. Especially for the country to confidently enter a new era - the era of national development, overseas Vietnamese highly appreciated Resolution 57. Because the development of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation are decisive factors in the development of countries; are the prerequisites and the best opportunities for our country to develop richly and powerfully in the new era.
Many overseas Vietnamese also feel happy that in recent times, our Party and State have had many policies and guidelines to promote the application and development of science and technology, promote innovation and digital transformation, proactively and actively participate in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and achieve many important results. And this time is the right time to turn the country's aspirations into an era of prosperity and development for the nation.
Mr. Nguyen Duy Lan, an overseas Vietnamese in the US, co-founder of VERMINE Company on cyber security, and specializing in Blockchain. With a PhD in information security and a former expert who worked for Microsoft, Mr. Lan shared that Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, and overseas Vietnamese who have worked for large corporations in the US for many years want to contribute their knowledge and experience to the development of the country, both financially for large technology projects, and in consulting and training in technology for large projects in the country.
Mr. Lan hopes that the State will have a policy to attract talents to attract many talents to return to the country, creating conditions for them to be able to focus all their heart and soul on working in science and technology, contributing to the country in science and technology, having standards to evaluate the skill level of those working in science and technology and having a team that meets the standards of science and technology to work and contribute to the country.
Delighted with the country's strong development in the recent period thanks to the Party's wise and talented leadership that has led the Vietnamese people through many challenges, but in order for Vietnam's policy to break through in the coming period and become more prosperous, Mr. Thai Dinh Vi, a Thai expatriate and Chairman of the Thai - Vietnamese Association of Nakhon Phannom Province (Thailand) hopes that the State should create favorable conditions for passports for overseas Vietnamese to return to their homeland. "They have talent, virtue, and capital, so it is necessary to create favorable conditions for them to contribute to the country and invest in new breakthrough fields," Mr. Vi said, affirming that when the Fatherland is strong, people everywhere will feel proud.
Mr. Nguyen Phuc Binh, an overseas Vietnamese in Australia and Head of the Vietnam-Australia Innovation Network, said that the Party and State have recently gathered a team of intellectuals and scholars at home and abroad. On January 13, the Politburo and the Central Party Secretariat held a National Conference on Breakthroughs in Science, Technology, Innovation and National Digital Transformation, which can be considered a "Dien Hong Conference" for intellectuals and scientists on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.
Mr. Binh hopes that through the Front, the Party and the State need to have a clear "order" so that intellectuals, experts and scientists abroad can know what their strengths are, and what they will respond to and contribute to their homeland?
“All macro-level work should start from the smallest, which is to give a clear problem so that experts and scientists know whether it can be solved or not. If it can be solved, they will “come back” because deep down, every person turns to their homeland and the Fatherland. I recommend that the Party and the State should have clear orders and widely communicate to Vietnamese people, intellectuals, and Vietnamese people around the world to arouse and call for support, contribution and dedication to the homeland” - Mr. Binh proposed.
