The three-day event attracted over 2,600 exhibitors from over 90 countries around the world, covering all stages of the fruit and vegetable value chain. This year’s event continues to affirm its reputation as the most influential meeting point of the year for fruit and vegetable suppliers, distributors and experts from around the world, aiming to promote trade, cooperation and introduce new products and technologies in the industry. This year’s slogan is “Effective Connections”, emphasizing the event’s focus on promoting meaningful partnerships and collaborations in the industry.

Within the framework of the National Trade Promotion Program approved by the Minister of Industry and Trade, the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association (Vinafruit) has organized for 10 Vietnamese fruit and vegetable import-export enterprises to participate in Fruit Logistica 2025. Vinafruit's product display and introduction area has a scale of 10 booths. This is the 5th year that the national display area "Fruit of Vietnam" has participated in the Fruit Logistica Fair with enterprises in the field of fruit and vegetable production and processing for export, in which the most typical products are mango, longan, dragon fruit, durian, jackfruit, fresh coconut, green-skin grapefruit, passion fruit, rambutan, etc.

In 2024, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable export value will reach 7.15 billion USD, of which exports to the European Union (EU) will reach 242.5 million USD, up 2.7% compared to 2023. Exports to the German market alone will reach 60.2 million USD, up 66.3%, but only account for 0.85% of Vietnam's total fruit and vegetable export value in the year. The export items to Germany with the highest growth rate in the year are pistachios, mangoes, dragon fruit and passion fruit.

In an interview with VNA, Mr. Dang Phuc Nguyen, General Secretary of the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association, said Fruit Logistica is the world's largest annual fruit and vegetable fair. Through the fair, Vietnamese businesses have more opportunities to find new partners and strengthen relationships with partners in Europe. This will not only help Vietnam's fruit and vegetable industry develop further in this "difficult" market, increase export turnover, and meet the expectations of the Vietnam-European Union Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), but also enrich and diversify the market. At Friut Logistica 2025, Vietnamese businesses will also be exposed to many new technologies such as product preservation, packaging, etc.

Mr. Tran Van Cong, Agricultural Counselor, Vietnam Delegation to the EU, affirmed that Friut Logistica is not only the largest fruit and vegetable fair in the world, but also attracts all large enterprises, logistics organizations, technology and fields related to global fruit and vegetable. This is a great opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises. At this year's fair, the number of participating Vietnamese enterprises is larger, the scale of the booth is larger, the form of participation is more numerous and the promotion is greater than in previous years. This is also the result of the effect from previous years, after enterprises participated and realized that there were many opportunities to approach customers, search and connect with European partners and many countries in the world as well as find new technologies in preserving fruits and vegetables.

According to Mr. Cong, Europe is an open market and the approach to products of plant origin in general and vegetables and fruits in particular is very favorable, so Vietnam has many advantages. With the post-control policy, all types of fruits can access the European market, without having to go through the process of registering growing areas or packaging codes, treatment measures such as irradiation or some measures required by other markets. Therefore, the opportunities to export to the European market are huge. However, the biggest difficulty at present is that Europe has a very strict "barrier" system, which is to control residues and pesticide residues on vegetables and fruits. Currently, the EU's prescribed level is 0.01 mg/kg and the European threshold is gradually decreasing, approaching 0, a level that makes it very difficult for Vietnamese businesses to access the vegetable and fruit market. To do so, the production process must comply with regulations, not only using the pesticide lists in the EU list, but businesses and manufacturers must also strictly follow the production process so that the products, when tested, meet European standards.

Ms. Huynh Thanh Truc, Director of Golden Bee Export Company, said that this is the third time her company has participated in the world's largest fruit fair, with strong products such as durian, dragon fruit, longan, and grapefruit. These products are currently being exported to many countries around the world. Ms. Truc shared: "In general, European customers like unique Vietnamese products. In addition to traditional fruits such as dragon fruit and passion fruit, fruits such as durian and longan have a very good market share and are continuing to increase. Currently, Golden Bee exports nearly 100 tons of fruit to all countries each month."

However, Ms. Truc said the biggest difficulty for businesses today is logistics and logistics costs. Currently, air freight rates are very high, while the time taken by sea is too long to preserve the products, so Vietnamese fruits and vegetables cannot compete on price.

Also within the framework of the fair, in order to expand opportunities for direct connection with potential trade partners in the German market in particular and the EU in general, on the opening day, Mr. Tran Van Cong - Agricultural Counselor, Vietnam Delegation to the EU and Ms. Dang Thi Thanh Phuong - Vietnam Trade Counselor in Germany, coordinated with Vinafruit to organize the Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Vina T&T Company Limited and Golden Gate Bce BV Company (Netherlands) on cooperation in distribution and consumption of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables, first of all fresh coconut, green-skin pomelo, longan and lychee, in the Dutch and EU markets.

Fruit Logistica 2025 is held in 26 exhibition halls, divided into many specialized areas such as tropical fruits, organic vegetables, post-harvest technology and logistics. Fruit Logistica covers all business areas, processing fresh fruit and vegetable products, providing an overview of innovations in fruit preservation, processing, packaging technology, the latest products and services as well as distribution channels in the international supply chain.
