On the afternoon of July 30, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung chaired a meeting with a working delegation led by Mr. Révérien Ndikuriyo, Secretary General of the National Council for the Defense of Democracy - Forces for the Defense of Democracy in Burundi. Also attending were leaders of the Departments and Divisions under the Ministry of Information and Communications, representatives of the Viettel Military Industry and Telecommunications Group, Viettel Global Joint Stock Corporation, and Viettel Burundi (Lumitel).
In 2025, Vietnam and Burundi will celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. At the meeting, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung shared that the country, name and people of Burundi are increasingly familiar to the Vietnamese people. Affirming the close relationship between the two countries, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung said that Vietnam is willing to share its experience in socio-economic development policies with Burundi in general and in the field of information and communications in particular.
Mr. Révérien Ndikuriyo shared that Vietnam and Burundi have many similarities in the struggle for national liberation and development. He hopes that the two countries will further promote and expand their cooperative relations.
Secretary General Ndikuriyo highly appreciated Viettel's role in doing business in Burundi, Lumitel network has helped ensure the need for seamless communication for the majority of the people. Thereby, Vietnam and Burundi have also become closer and paved the way for businesses in other fields to invest.
According to Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, after more than 40 years of development, Vietnam has achieved great economic and social achievements. Currently, Vietnam is applying digital technologies in training state officials, training digital skills for citizens, and building virtual assistants based on artificial intelligence. Vietnam is ready to support Burundi in developing a number of digital platforms.
At the meeting, the two sides agreed to promote cooperation between the two countries' Ministries of Information and Communications through the exchange of delegations of officials working in the information and communications sector; Sharing experiences and policies on industry development in person or online; Creating favorable conditions for Viettel to operate stably in Burundi, becoming a model for other Vietnamese enterprises wishing to invest and do business in the market.
