Here, Unity announced a series of new AI enhancements and platform updates to better support game developers in realizing their vision and operating successful game products.
The announcement included early access to Unity Muse, a suite of features that uses AI to simplify content creation; a first look at Unity 6, the next major version of Unity due in 2024 (formerly known as 2023 LTS); and the launch of Unity Cloud, a platform of interconnected products and services that help developers organize content across projects and workflows.
Earlier this year, Unity announced the closed beta of its two AI-powered platforms, Unity Muse and Unity Sentis. Today, Unity Muse enters early access with an ever-expanding suite of features designed to simplify content creation, including:
1. Muse Chat – find answers and resources on Unity, as well as get usable code
2. Muse Sprite – used to create 2D sprite images and many variations
3. Muse Texture – for creating high quality 2D and 3D textures, ready to use
Specifically, Sprites and Textures are powered by custom-built deep learning models trained entirely on data and images owned or licensed by Unity. This ensures that the datasets do not contain any recognizable people, icons, or art styles.
Unity is now offering solutions for game content creators
Unity Muse is a standalone product that costs $30/month. Subscribers will also get priority access to upcoming features in the pre-release, such as Muse Animate (which lets developers create animated characters without coding), Muse Behavior (which lets developers create character interactions), and Muse Sketch (a 3D canvas for rapid prototyping and team collaboration).
While Unity Muse helps developers improve their workflows, Unity Sentis allows them to bring complex AI data models into the Unity Runtime to solve “hard” tasks, as well as create new in-game functionality using AI models. Unity Sentis is currently in open beta and will be widely available with Unity 6 in 2024.
