(To Quoc) - The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has agreed and decided to stop organizing the 6th Cham Ethnic Cultural Festival in 2024 in Ninh Thuan province, scheduled to be held in the first quarter of 2025.
On the afternoon of December 16, the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province informed that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has agreed and decided to stop organizing the 6th Cham Ethnic Cultural Festival in Ninh Thuan province in 2024.
Five days ago, the Provincial People's Committee sent a document to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requesting to adjust the time of the Festival, stating that due to some difficulties in the preparation work, there is not much time left from now until the opening day of the Festival, if the event is organized, it will not ensure the progress, quality, thoughtfulness, solemnity as well as the success of the event.
Specifically, the preparation work was not thorough, leading to some errors in the implementation of bidding procedures for the package of services for the installation of equipment, sound and lighting systems, and the implementation of the opening and closing art programs. In addition, the mobilization of socialized funding for the organization of the event also encountered many difficulties. The provinces and cities participating in the Festival also had difficulty mobilizing teams to participate in the performance for the event.
Therefore, the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province has proposed the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to consider and approve the adjustment of the time to organize the Festival in the first quarter of 2025 (expected to be combined with the Ramuwan Festival of the Cham people following Bani Islam and Islam in Ninh Thuan province).
Cham people in Ninh Thuan celebrate Kate festival, October 2024.
According to the original plan, the 6th Cham Cultural Festival will take place for 3 days, from December 20-22 in Phan Rang - Thap Cham City, Ninh Thuan Province. The festival has the theme "Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the Cham ethnic group in the period of national integration and development", chaired by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee, in coordination with the provinces of Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Binh Thuan, An Giang, Tay Ninh, Quang Nam, Da Nang City and Ho Chi Minh City.
This is considered a political activity for the Cham people to introduce their unique and characteristic cultural features. It is expected that nearly 500 artisans, artists, and athletes from 9 provinces and cities will participate, representing more than 179,000 Cham people nationwide./.
