MobiFone deploys 5G

On the morning of March 26, MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation officially announced the provision of 5G services. MobiFone's 5G network is deployed on the 3,800-3,900 MHz frequency band, which will be auctioned in July 2024. The network operator also deploys simultaneously on both 5G NSA (non stand alone) and 5G SA (stand alone) architecture platforms.

According to this network operator, in the first phase, 5G services will be concentrated in the centers of major provinces and cities. Individual users with 4G SIMs and 5G-enabled phones can immediately use the service within the coverage area without having to change SIMs.

MobiFone said that the network speed of this network operator can reach 1.5 Gbps. According to the statistics of measuring the 5G mobile broadband network in February 2025 updated from the i-Speed ​​Internet platform of the Vietnam Internet Center (Ministry of Science and Technology), MobiFone's 5G download speed reached 284.89 Mbps and the upload speed reached 53.37 Mbps.

The network also announced 7 5G packages for users. The lowest package costs 80,000 VND/30 days, has 1 GB/day and does not include data when watching YouTube. Higher packages cost from 135,000-200,000 VND/month, with services other than data such as calling and watching TV.

The network operator also announced products aimed at business customers in areas such as manufacturing, smart cities, energy, agriculture, healthcare, education, transportation and smart tourism. MobiFone also said it has deployed solutions and services on the 5G platform at a number of units and businesses.

Thus, up to now, all three major network operators in Vietnam have provided commercial 5G services.
