Pre-match information The U23 Vietnam team will face U23 Yemen in the second match of Group C of the 2024 U23 Asian qualifiers. Since both teams won the first match, today's match will greatly affect the situation of the group. In the opening match, U23 Vietnam had a big 6-0 victory over U23 Guam. It was a match in which coach Troussier's students controlled the game well, demonstrating the philosophy that has been built over time. However, this was not a perfect victory as many problems of the home team were pointed out after the match. U23 Vietnam had many incoherent coordination, wrong passes and ineffective finishing. Thanh Nhan and his teammates had about 20 chances in front of the opponent's goal, but only 1/3 of them turned into goals (6 goals). The remaining 2/3 were inaccurate long-range shots or failed first-step ball control. Coach Troussier also admitted that if the players had handled the situation better, the team could have scored 3 to 4 more goals. The 6-0 victory over U23 Guam in the opening match of U23 Vietnam was not perfect. Photo: Lam Thoa While the performance of U23 Vietnam is still not convincing, on the opposite side, U23 Yemen defeated U23 Singapore with a score of 3-0 in the first match. Although not bringing the strongest squad to Vietnam, coach Miroslav Soukup still has players with even physique and fitness. Against U23 Singapore, U23 Yemen showed a diverse playing style when combining well the central and flank attacks. In particular, the attacks from the two wings are considered the dangerous attack of the West Asian team. However, U23 Yemen also has its own problems. In the previous match, the team's defense lacked concentration many times. They let U23 Singapore players dribble easily or shoot in favorable positions. Luckily for coach Miroslav Soukup's team, U23 Singapore strikers did not do their job well. However, compared to U23 Guam, U23 Yemen is completely superior in terms of force and level. This will be the real and most important challenge for U23 Vietnam. U23 Yemen has a versatile playing style, combining well the central and flank attacks. Photo: Lam Thoa To prepare for tonight's match, coach Troussier has learned from the previous match for his players, and asked the whole team to perform well in moving, passing the ball in the final situations and finishing the goal. Ahmer Maher and Hamzah Maross - the authors of 3 goals against U23 Singapore will be the 2 faces that Ho Van Cuong and his teammates must pay attention to as they can put the U23 Vietnam goal in danger at any time. U23 Vietnam has never faced U23 Yemen in a friendly match or in an official tournament. The two teams also do not have too much difference in terms of professional level. But the home field advantage will be a mental support, helping U23 Vietnam take the initiative in the race for a ticket to the 2024 U23 Asian Cup finals .
