The visit is of special significance to the relationship between the two Parties and two countries, continuing to foster friendship and enhance comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and China in the new development period.
This is the fourth State visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping as the highest leader of the Party and State of China, the second visit during the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and was carried out less than a year after the State visit to China by General Secretary To Lam.
In particular, taking place during the Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange Year to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1950-2025), the visit of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping marked an important foreign political event of the two Parties and two countries, with strategic significance and long-term impact on the development of Vietnam-China relations in the context of both countries entering a new era of development.
The State visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping took place in the context of Vietnam continuing to actively implement the Resolution of the 13th National Congress and preparing for the 14th National Party Congress. The economy maintained its growth momentum; national defense and security were consolidated and enhanced; foreign affairs and international integration achieved many important achievements. The international community highly values and appreciates Vietnam's potential, position and international prestige.
After half a term of implementing the Resolution of the 20th Party Congress, China's internal political situation has remained stable overall; the "core" position of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping continues to be firmly consolidated.
Economically, China has basically completed major development goals and achieved breakthroughs in science and technology, especially in the field of artificial intelligence.

Vietnam-China relations continue to develop steadily and achieve many important results. In 2023, the two sides issued a Joint Statement on continuing to deepen and elevate the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, building a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance, opening a new chapter in the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Vietnam-China relations have seen clear and comprehensive changes in the direction of “6 more”. China attaches importance to, prioritizes and pays high attention to the development of Vietnam-China relations. Political trust has been consolidated, most recently through the State visit to China by General Secretary To Lam (August 2024) and the phone call between the highest leaders of the two Parties (January 2025).
In the context of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations, the two sides have maintained close exchanges and contacts at all levels. Defense and security cooperation has become more substantive. Economic, trade and investment cooperation has grown positively. People-to-people exchanges, educational and cultural cooperation have been vibrant. Multilateral cooperation has been expanded. Vietnam supports China's global initiatives. The two sides have maintained dialogue mechanisms and made efforts to control and resolve disagreements.
As a foreign activity of special significance for the next stage of development of Vietnam-China relations, the State visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping demonstrates China's importance and priority to further consolidating and elevating the Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and Community of Shared Future, which has strategic significance.
Offering a warm welcome to General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, Vietnam affirmed the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress to be independent and self-reliant; diversify and multilateralize foreign relations, in which top priority is given to relations with neighboring countries, consistently attaching importance to developing stable and long-term relations with China on the basis of mutual respect, equality, mutual benefit, promoting positive trends, similarities, and connections between the two Parties and two countries.
