At the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Congress held in Malaysia, President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Quoc Tuan and President of the Chinese Football Association (CFA) Song Kai met, discussed and agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the near future. The agreement aims to strengthen cooperation and promote the development of the two football teams in the region.
Notably, towards the 2027 AFC U17 qualifiers, CFA has officially invited the Vietnam U16 team to participate in a pre-event friendly tournament as a first step for the qualifiers. This is a quality "run-up" opportunity, helping the young Vietnamese team gain experience before entering the official tournament.

In 2024, CFA will repeatedly invite Vietnamese teams to participate in quality international friendly tournaments, including the national women's team, women's futsal, U16, U19 and U21 men's team.
Most recently, the Vietnam U22 team participated in the CFA Team China 2025 friendly tournament - a playground that brings together strong teams such as U22 Korea, U22 Uzbekistan and host U22 China. This is considered a valuable opportunity for young Vietnamese players to compete in the journey towards the SEA Games and the U23 Asian qualifiers.
The signing of the cooperation agreement between the two federations is a testament to the increasingly close relationship and goodwill to develop regional football. At the same time, this is also a strategic step to help Vietnam improve its organizational capacity, train young people and increase international competitiveness.
VFF has now established official cooperation relationships with many leading football nations such as Japan, Korea, Brazil, UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
Expanding cooperation with China, a country with strong development resources, promises to create more motivation, opportunities and conditions for Vietnamese football to continue to rise, aiming for higher goals in the future.
