Emotions of athletes when reaching the finish line first at Aqua Warriors Halong Bay 2025

The Aqua Warriors Halong Bay 2025 tournament is a sports event organized by Dan Tri newspaper in collaboration with Bolt Event and the People's Public Security Sports Association in Hon Gai, Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province. The champions were determined after two days of competition on April 12 - April 13, with many athletes achieving impressive results.

On the second competition day of Aqua Warriors Halong Bay 2025 taking place on the morning of April 13, the first athlete to win was Do Vu Hai (born in 2011) in the Sprint Aqua Warriors category for men.

Notably, this 14-year-old athlete comes from Quang Trung Secondary School, Nam Dinh City and won the tough tournament like Aqua Warriors in his first time participating: "This morning, my father and I participated in Aqua Warriors. My father competed in the Olympic Triathlon, and I competed in the Sprint Aqua Warriors. I am so happy to be the first person to win the tournament this morning," said athlete Do Vu Hai.

Revealing the secret to winning the championship in his first time participating in Aqua Warriors, the 14-year-old boy said he spent a lot of time practicing swimming and running every day, especially focusing on practicing speed exercises on the track.

"Every day I try to practice running and gradually increase my speed in the distance of 5 to 10km. In the swimming competition, the athletes may not be much different due to the short distance, but in the running competition, whoever has better speed will easily win," Do Vu Hai shared.

Notably, Do Vu Hai is currently a swimmer, so conquering the swimming competition is quite easy for him. It only takes him about 1 minute 15 seconds to conquer the 100m swim and 4 minutes 5 seconds to run 1km.

"I have won many swimming medals, but I was not the athlete with the best results in the swimming competition this morning. However, on the race track, I shortened the gap with the previous swimming leader. Winning the Aqua Warriors is truly a great happiness for me at this time," athlete Do Vu Hai concluded.

Meanwhile, in the Sprint Aqua Warriors category for women, athlete Nguyen Linh Chi successfully defended her championship title, thereby setting a record at this tournament as the only athlete to achieve a hat-trick of championships at Aqua Warriors (last year Linh Chi won Aqua Warriors Halong Bay 2024 and Aqua Warriors Van Don 2024).

"In the swimming competition, while everyone else only swam 750m, I had to swim about 1km because I was pushed away by the waves. I was not the one with the best results in the swimming competition, but I was able to shorten the gap with my opponents in the running competition. To win a tournament like Aqua Warriors, each athlete must achieve the best results in both swimming and running. When practicing, I always tried to do well in both of these events," Linh Chi shared the secret that made her have no rivals in the Sprint Aqua Warriors event.

Although not good at swimming or running, the ability to promote individual strengths in each event helped the pair Nguyen Van Sang and Nguyen Hoai Nam win the Full Aqua Warriors Relay championship for men's pairs.

"I am currently a swimming coach for Thang Long Hanoi Club, so I took on the 3km swim, while my friend Hoai Nam, a professional runner, took on the 15km run. Each of us has our own strengths, so even though this is the first time we have competed together in the Full Aqua Warriors Relay, we are proud to have won the championship," said Nguyen Van Sang.

"In fact, there were many athletes participating in the swimming competition, so I was hindered a lot on the swimming course, had to weave my way through people, so my performance in the competition was not the best. Meanwhile, Hoai Nam had almost no opponents on the race track, holding the number one position from start to finish," athlete Nguyen Van Sang added.

Brewster Anthony Daniel, an athlete from Australia, became the only foreign athlete to win the championship at Aqua Warriors Halong Bay 2025, when he finished first in the first-ever event and also the most "difficult" event of this tournament, the Olympic Triathlon (including 1.5km swimming, 40km cycling, 10km running).

"For me, conquering the competitions in this content is not too difficult, as I have participated in many tough Ironman competitions around the world. However, this tournament gives me a very interesting experience, when I can swim, bike, and run in a beautiful world natural heritage like Ha Long.

The championship makes me very happy, I love Vietnam, I love Ha Long city. Thank you to the organizers for bringing a very interesting tournament to everyone, especially foreign athletes like me", Brewster Anthony Daniel expressed his joy after winning.

Another athlete who expressed extreme joy at winning the championship at Aqua Warriors Halong Bay 2025 was Ngo Thu Ha - a familiar face with Aqua Warriors from Quang Ninh.

"I got injured before the tournament and had to take painkillers to practice running. I'm a swimmer so swimming is my forte, I just tried to practice more for the running part. Last year I competed in the Full Aqua Warriors Relay, but this year I decided to go big and was called a "snatch" when I competed in the Full Aqua Warriors Solo.

However, next year I will compete in the Olympic Triathlon to have more interesting experiences," Ngo Thu Ha shared her joy at winning the championship.

Nguyen Ngoc Trung Do, an athlete from Da Nang who won first place in the men's Olympic Aqua Warriors event, shared: "I flew here from Da Nang to participate in the tournament. I knew about this competition 4 months ago, I practiced with high intensity every day. I had no difficulty winning first place in this event."

Female athlete who won first place in the Olympic Aqua Warriors for women, Le Thi Ha My: "I'm very happy because last year I only competed in the sprint event. This year, I boldly participated in this event. I'm very happy to have won against myself. I'm a bit busy so I don't have time to practice. I think I can surpass this achievement if I practice more fully. I will try to improve my performance next year."
