Once the 4th richest person in the world

According to Forbes, as of November 9, Mr. Gautam Adani is the second richest billionaire in India and the 23rd richest in the world with a fortune of 52.2 billion USD. He is the founder and Chairman of the multinational Adani Group - a corporation specializing in building highways, airports and infrastructure in India.

In the second half of 2022, Mr. Gautam Adani was once the richest man in India and the fourth richest in the world with a fortune of nearly 150 billion USD. However, in early February 2023, Mr. Adani's assets evaporated by 80-90 billion USD when the group faced allegations of fraud and stock manipulation from the Hindenburg report.

Recently, on his X (Twitter) account, Indian billionaire Gautam Shantilal Adani shared about his meeting with Vingroup Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong , discussing potential business opportunities between India and Vietnam.

Most of Mr Adani’s fortune has been built in the last two years as his conglomerate has focused on energy and infrastructure. Rising coal prices have benefited his businesses.

Gautam Adani has recently focused on renewable energy, with a commitment to invest $70 billion in green energy.

This is an orientation that overlaps quite well with Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong's ambition.

Another noteworthy point is that at the time Forbes calculated Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong's asset value based on VinFast's fluctuations and peak stock prices, the assets of the two Vietnamese and Indian billionaires were at the same level.

Specifically, as of the end of the August 25 session on the US stock exchange (early morning of August 26 Vietnam time), according to Forbes, Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong had total assets of 55.8 billion USD, ranked 23rd in the world, 3rd in Asia and 1st in Southeast Asia. At that time, Indian billionaire Gautam Adani recorded assets of 55.2 billion USD.

Thus, in the session of August 25, billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong surpassed billionaire Gautam Adani to become the 3rd richest person in Asia, only after Indian oil and gas and retail tycoon Mukesh Ambani (who has 95.9 billion USD, as of August 25) and billionaire Zhong Shanshan, owner of China's largest beverage company Nongfu Spring (who has 60.3 billion USD).

There were times when billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong, according to Forbes, was the second richest person in Asia, just behind Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani and above billionaire Gautam Adani and China's richest person, Zhong Shanshan.

However, Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong's name is not currently on the list of the world's 500 billionaires according to Bloomberg's ranking.

According to Forbes' real-time billionaire rankings displayed on the morning of September 1 (Vietnam time), Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong owns a total asset of 6 billion USD - ranked 445th in the world. As of November 9, according to Forbes, Mr. Vuong's assets were 4.7 billion USD.

Green Ambition

Like many other billionaires, Mr. Adani (61 years old) has experienced many business fields, from doing business in diamond markets, plastic production, import and export of goods, developing and operating ports, airports, coal trading...

Billionaire Adani's group is currently India's largest coal trader and the second largest coal producer in this country of a billion people.
