Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang - Chairman of Masan Group - has just dropped out of the list of USD billionaires, according to the latest data from Forbes.
Specifically, according to a new update from Forbes , Mr. Nguyen Dang Quang - Chairman of Masan Group (MSN) - no longer has a net worth of 1 billion USD. This means that Mr. Quang does not meet the criteria to stay on the organization's rankings.
Forbes ' statistics on the world's richest people's net worth are based on many criteria, of which the value of stocks held is an important component.
However, in the first month of 2025, Masan's MSN shares fell nearly 5% to VND66,900.
Previously, Mr. Quang was recognized by Forbes as a USD billionaire for the first time in 2018, with an estimated fortune of about 1.3 billion USD.
However, in recent years, due to fluctuations in MSN stock prices, his assets have only hovered around the standard mark, and Mr. Quang is the businessman who has appeared and gone on the billionaire list the most.
Thus, as of January 24, 2025, Vietnam has 5 billionaires left with total assets of more than 12 billion USD. Of which, Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong is still the USD billionaire with the largest net asset scale in Vietnam with 4.1 billion USD.
Mr. Vuong is the chairman of Vingroup's board of directors and the general director of VinFast. Although he has maintained his position as the richest person in Vietnam for many years and is currently ranked 839th on the list of the world's richest people, in reality, Mr. Vuong's net worth at the end of the year of the Dragon has somewhat "decreased" compared to the beginning of the year (4.4 billion USD).
Currently, billionaire Vuong still holds 691.27 million VIC shares of Vingroup, equivalent to about 18% of the group's charter capital. The rest, Mr. Vuong owns through his own companies.
In 2024, VN-Index increased by more than 12% but many bluechip stocks were under pressure from foreign net selling pressure, such as Vingroup's VIC (-9%).
Possessing a large fortune, Mr. Vuong is focusing all his efforts and enthusiasm on making electric cars with a personal commitment of 50,000 billion VND.
Returning to the rankings, the remaining 4 USD billionaires of Vietnam include: Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao - General Director of Vietjet Air, Mr. Tran Dinh Long - Chairman of Hoa Phat Group, Mr. Ho Hung Anh - Chairman of Techcombank, Mr. Tran Ba Duong - Chairman of Thaco Board of Directors.
