According to information from the official website of Bali tourism, the Bali government has started to impose a tourist tax of 150,000 rupiah (about 255 thousand VND) to deal with the phenomenon of overtourism on this famous island.
The Bali government said revenue from the tax will go toward tourism management and preserving Balinese culture, investing in environmental clean-up efforts and disaster management.

The tax will be applied to foreign tourists visiting Bali. Some of the exemptions include: Diplomatic and official passport holders; air crew and sea crew; holders of the Indonesian Temporary Residence Card (KITAS) or Indonesian Permanent Residence Card (KITAP); holders of family reunification visas, golden visas or student visas; and those issued with other types of visas other than tourism.
Bali authorities advise tourists to pay this tax before arriving in Bali through the official Bali tourism website: https://lovebali.baliprov.go.id or through the LoveBali smart application.
